Rainy summer is real summer.

Healthy summer - maybe. Rainy summer liquid diet - much talk about water but one more thing is quite important - salt and even more as iodine. got it after 2 months.

Rain is keeping temperature below 30s so quite manageable to be on liquid diet alone.

Always wanted to talk about it - have never ever touched a gun. rarely anyone have gun in neighbourehood. hardly police have it.
Don't know how to operate a gun. you can watch videos to learn things but that can't match real experience.

was surprised to see military level guns being at display and for sale in a mart or mall - a complete corner was for weapons. May of world militaries not have those advanced and upgraded guns and here anybody can buy them.

Not like i have anything against guns - guns are fun - violence is built in feature of every human being.

I would be more than happy to have some part in military industrial complex. Business is business. If there is any need then you have the opportunity. Peace demands money and physical actions both.

Boris was in pinch but after winning the no-confidence, i thought he can survive but the storm had already engulfed the party - This is why when you win - go on attack mode - don't get carried away. Every week, Every month is election month.

You can't even keep your own folk together shows how weak you are. When you step into battlefield - everything is fair, be ready to use any and every tool there - infighting always happen - strengthening your own position aka consolidating your hold over party as well as national politics is important. you set the scenery, you create the narrative, you force others to dance on your created stage - none was done.
Lies alone can't bring you far - whether 1 or 30000.
Party members also need to wave for the leader.

I had said trump is useful idiot - use m throw him n republicans were unable to do any task at all.

Can we even call them politicians if they can't have tricks, plans at hand. These guys really need to learn a lot.

OVerall - entertaining 2 weeks - i enjoyed the show

“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” could have been a network show, but SBS passed on it. It landed on a relatively new, small cable channel, ENA and also streams on two platforms.

Due to wide spread word of mouth reviews, episode 5 of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” on July 13 scored an average nationwide rating of 9.138 percent according to Nielsen Korea. This is nearly a 4 percent jump from the previous episode’s rating of 5.2 percent and 10 times the rating of 0.9 percent achieved by the first episode.

Because of the channel relative size and status, this show's popularity is comparable to 27% rating on traditional networks.

It is more evidence that buzzworthy shows will find an audience in SK and elsewhere as viewing habits continue to change.

I watched a drama recently that I really enjoyed - at the time. But as the weeks have gone on, I find my opinion of it slipping more and more. I keep an ongoing ranking of my favorite dramas in different categories, and right after I finished it, I placed it pretty high, but then every time I've looked back at those rankings, I think, "Does it really belong in that slot? Did I really enjoy it more than this other one?" and I inevitably move it down slightly. I don't have a good reason for this, and it's not that I've watched a ton of other things in the meantime that have displaced it, I guess my opinion of it is just fluid right now. Does this happen to anyone else? Do you ever have a high opinion of a drama right after completion, but then your memories and reflections are less kind to it?

Yes, I am glad you raised this. I do a move them around because what I ranked them on highly may pale into insignificance when compared with a new drama in a similar genre. Sometimes it’s reflecting on what I dismissed as irrelevant at the time now feeling that it is a bigger issue later. Also, if I have them in a top 10 I will end up moving some into the top 20 or 30 because whilst it’s still good enough to recommend I prefer something else now. Sometimes it’s about my mood, during the pandemic I needed a lot of distraction so dramas that were ok and average where watched now when it comes to ranking they served a purpose but they are not keepers. Sometimes, it’s about my interest in a certain style has changed.

Have you noticed a pattern to the ones that are being demoted?

It's really just one so far, so no pattern, but that's why I feel so puzzled! And it's definitely not a matter of watching other dramas that displace it, because I really haven't seen any in that category since finishing it.

I think it's closer to the second thing you mentioned - I think I'm remembering things that were fine at the time but that I'm less tolerant of now. And it's not like they are awful things, it's not like the writing was bad or the story wasn't thought out ahead of time. I just liked more of the characters at the time than I do now as I remember them. It's still not a bad drama! But usually I love reminiscing about amazing moments in past dramas, so I'm surprised that I don't enjoy it as much in retrospect.

I had an opposite experience with SITR. Like most, the ending was a relative mess with the FL choices. But afterward, after reading SYJ interviews about the show, and how she perceived her character as an immature adult career woman in conflict with tradition, I understood the ambiguous ending more than when watching it.

That’s a really good point as her character behaved in ways that made no sense at times so Something in the rain was a drama that left me frustrated at times.

I totally relate!! This happened for me with Its Okay Not To Be Okay - I remember being absolutely enthralled while it was airing. I would be on the edge of my seat anticipating each new episode. But now, long after it finished, I think my feelings toward it have changed - I’m not as in love with it like I was in the moment, and for some reason I can’t get with the love line and how it turned out. I’m not sure why it doesn’t bring the same positive emotions in my memory as it did when I was watching it….

But I’ve also had the opposite happen - dramas I completed that I thought I didn’t like very much, but rewatching them, I realized how good they actually were! Recently, I was bored and looking for a drama to fill the time while I waited for new eps of the current airing Yumi’s Cells 2 and Extraordinary Attorney Woo - something pulled me to rewatch Suspicious Partner. I remember back when I watched it first, it felt super mediocre and draggy in some parts. But watching it again, it was so much fun! I did fast forward through parts that were draggy to me, but I think I forgot how amazing Ji Chang Wook’s chemistry was with Nam Ji Hyun, that plus the comedic moments and editing, reminded me of the charm that got me into Kdramas in the first place.

Another example of this was W - Two Worlds. I do remember enjoying it while it aired, but rewatching it earlier this year, I was REALLY in love! I enjoyed it so much I was wondering why I never added it to my top drama list after all these years, cuz that’s where it is now haha.

Really liked this question!

I love that it can work both ways. 😊 I have yet to rewatch a drama so I don’t know if that would happen to me. I wonder if it would work with dropped dramas as timing might mean having a different perspective. I did that with Coffee Prince after watching the first episode I dropped it, years later after continuously seeing positive reviews I rewatched the first episode and continued to watch but even completing it I still could not connect with it. However, I might have a different reaction with another drama.

I've also yet to go back to a drama I initially dropped - though I do still think of them from time to time, but I just can't be motivated to pick them up again. And I used to not rewatch shows either - thought it wouldn't be as fun anymore/a waste of time. But earlier this year, I was going through a sad time, and I read somewhere that rewatching shows and movies can help coping with grief, so I decided to give it a try! And it was such a huge comfort for a number of reasons:
1. Reduced anxiety - since I already knew what was gonna happen, there was no anxious suspense and I could watch in peace - it felt like there was at least one thing in my control amidst a lot of stressful things happening that I couldn't control. I also didn't feel bad about skipping over long/difficult parts since I already knew all the background info.
2. Increased positive emotions - rewatching some of my old favorites brought me back in time to the happy moments I was at in life at the time I first watched. This put a smile on my face, and helped me appreciate the drama as part of my core memories and not just some show I watched.
3. Helped me see things from a new light - I would pick up on things in the show that I never noticed the first time around. This was especially the case with W, since it had a lot of complex elements that I was trying to keep up with when I first watched. But when I rewatched, I was less confused and could enjoy the fast moving plot so much more.

Some shows I've rewatched so far:
Pinocchio (4 times in the past 8 years, my all time fave)
W - Two Worlds
Suspicious Partner
Start Up (not the whole thing, but just my favorite episodes and moments)
Business Proposal (only meant to rewatch the first few with my friend who wanted to try watching a kdrama... well I ended up falling in love with this one AGAIN and rewatching it on my own haha)

I agree that rewatching under those circumstances sounds like it would bring back the warmth of those happy memories. ☺️ Thanks for sharing.
Whenever I hear the song Something in the rain I see the scene where he told her that he loved her for the first time it was so beautiful you could feel the impact it had on her. The song captured it perfectly. I love how certain scenes are beautifully curated from the script, acting and music, it doesn’t happen often but when it does it is a joy to behold. I hope that you continue to re experience those perfect moments when you need them.

3

You have indeed clarified for me why I rewatch and why it is not really a waste of time. Thank you. Not so much to bring me back to a state i was when first viewed, but more to reduce anxiety or for positive thoughts. It is a coping mechanism against stress. And being in a diffused state before being focused on one thing again. Sometimes, I don't like to watch any new dramas, even if i've got time for it. Now, I know why. Recent rewatch: You are my Glory, Imitation. CLOY, Healer. And I can think of how, way, way back then, i'd rewatch Goong, Coffee Prince, Love Story in Harvard, Love Story in Paris. Those were the days.

4

Oh, older rewatch: All About Eve, Only You, The Legend of Four Gods. The leads are now past their prime so some are cringey. But still the rewatch had some usefulness.

1

@merry thanks for sharing these titles I am having a good look through the older dramas as the newer ones have too much tension to be part of my wind down routine.

I don’t mind seeing the actors age. My favourite Ajhassi is Cheon Hojin he usually plays kind caring roles. I was surprised to see him playing a silent and cold dad in My liberation notes. I like that he has grown old gracefully unlike, Kim Changwan the Law school Director in Why her who looks like he is wearing a wig as the colour and style is so unnatural. I thought he did it for the role in Something in the rain but in Why her he has the same hair but this time at least the side burns are gray which just makes the rest look more unreal.

1

Thanks for sharing your experiences with this! I think I find it comforting that it can happen in both directions. And now I really want to watch Suspicious Partner!

I haven't had one flip from "meh" to "love", but I do think I loved Live Up to Your Name even more after completion than I did while I was watching it (which was already a lot). I'm still new enough to dramas that I haven't rewatched any, so I'm excited to discover more of this phenomenon in the future!

Thanks again for bringing the topic up. Like you, I have so many to watch that I can’t afford the time to rewatch one I have already loved. Suspicious partner was one I dropped reluctantly due to the thriller elements but it was at a time when I didn’t fast forward for fear of missing key info so it was watch or drop but I think i might go back now.

This happens to me all the time. I keep track of dramas I’ve watched on My Drama List and my ratings are all over show depending on when I rated a show relative to when I watched it. I’ll come back and be like “why on earth did I rate that higher than that one?” It’s totally subjective and fluid.

5
4
reply

Required fields are marked *

This is me too! Ratings are always relative, there's the very few that I consider to be like my top dramas come rain, hail or shine but everything else always gets shuffled around as I watch new dramas and rank them accordingly!

3
reply

Required fields are marked *

This is why I thought a ranking system might be better! Then I expect to move things around as I watch new dramas I love more than previous dramas, but I'm finding out even that is more fluid than I thought. It's not a bad thing, just a little unexpected. But it makes sense that different shows would hit differently at different times.

Yep there are plenty of shows that the first time I tried I just wasn’t in the mood for and gave up that actually turned out pretty good (and plenty that I was clearly in the mood for because they do not stand up to rewatching 😅)

3

I started Alchemy of souls and binge watched the current episodes within 2 days. This is really bad news. Should have held myself till the 16th episode atleast but then in my defense, I really thought I would not make it past the second episode 😅
Tried to start Ice World but the recurrent child abuse themes are too overwhelming for me right now, especially after watching Mystery no lunakare.
Want to start another drama while waiting for AOS but I'm indecisive. Should I just rewatch?

This is so relatable! I'm live-watching it, and I don't plan to rewatch until we get close to part 2 releasing, and then I'll probably go back and watch the whole of part 1 again, but you do you! I think it will be a really fun rewatch because I'll catch new things I missed the first time.

I'm waiting to start Extraordinary Attorney Woo until at least a few more episodes come out for exactly this reason. But I'm sure this is what will happen to me too, haha!

I burned through all the cast interviews, games & bts and then just did my second rewatch all the way from 1-8 recently! So yes - check out the extra content on YT and then rewatch, why not!!

I'm also finding webdramas to be good fillers to distract from the wait between episodes. If you really like the cast also, you could check out other dramas they've done too, to pass time hahaha

We got Covid for the first time 3 days ago.

As our dad was the first person to witness its symptoms (eg, coughing, having a fever), he tested positive on Monday and went to see a doctor on Tuesday. Tuesday night I started feeling itchy at the back of my throat and had dry coughs, so I went to a hospital on Wednesday and got confirmed I also tested positive. Mom and my younger sister also tested positive on Thursday. My younger brother hasn’t gone to a hospital but looked after himself with all the Covid symptoms and is gradually getting better.

My father and I cough a lot, whereas my mother and sister seem to have milder symptoms like only having low fever. We are really relieved that we have had the necessary shots so that the symptoms are supposed to be milder.

All universities are reopening next month. The government just stopped using the mask mandate at the beginning of this month and though nearly 100 per cent of people still wear masks when they are outside of home, the number of infected people is so high. I wonder if everyone will get it at one point. For my family, it was inevitable since we normally have dinner together, it would be impossible to imagine that no one would ever be infected and everyone would remain clear of the disease forever.

I’m typing this on my couch. 🛋

Has anyone watched the Extraordinary Attorney Woo deleted scene? Turn out Young-woo didn't throw away Junho's gift!
Source
Better Quality on YouTube

The scene itself no doubt is pretty sweet, but I am glad they deleted that, because her regret won't be that powerful if this scene is still there. This is exactly the same reason Junho didn't touch her when she feels shame before him.

No, not only that.

No doubt people with ASD don't like to be touched, because that will make them very nervous. However, if you get their permission (so that they have time to prepare themselves, same reason she count before going into a room), and if you are a very close friend of them (Geurami, for example), you can still touch them. I guess Junho is getting there. This is, however, a lesson Young-woo must learn, and I guess he won't touch her so she will remember that lesson much more deeply.

I just watched the new adaptation of Jane Austen's PERSUASION and still can't believe how Netflix butchered this novel.

The Anne from the book is hardly recognisable. She is snarky and more reminiscent of Elizabeth Bennet.

And why does the language have to be so modernised for the sake of it? I cringed every time "daddy" or the "ex" was mentioned.
I had no problem with BRIDGERTON disregarding the conventions of the time (it was even fun), after all Julia Quinn had no idea how her characters were supposed to behave in the society of the time anyway. But in a Jane Austen film adaptation, that just hurts me.

One of the best literary adaptations I've ever seen, and a brilliant film in its own right. I think a lot of credit should go to the writer, Nick Dear, whose script not only manages to compress mountains of Austenian nuance and detail in under 2 hours, but also invents some stuff that is perfectly in tune with the original (like that penultimate scene in the candle-lit room). Actually, I think I'll go and watch the film again right now...

As a Brit, I can’t bear it when our quiet, repressed, shy heroes / heroines get made glitzy and loud. There are other forms of strength than being charismatic! Waaaaaaaa

I haven’t seen it yet but I’m curious…it sounds terrible. I love Persuasion, it’s my favourite Austen novel but this sounds like it was updated without any attention to the book itself.

I remember a few years ago (probably at least ten now, so old 😭) when Pride and Prejudice and Zombies came out, it was quite a funny concept but it was so poorly executed. I read the book and they missed so many good opportunities for jokes/butchered other ones because the person who had done it didn’t appear to have any interest in the original novel.

I tend to write Kdrama concepts/summaries I would like to see become an actual show/movie and those i'd like to star in them.. (These aren't fanfiction stories, though I wouldn't mind reading Similar story lines) This is just one example of a concept I created. Please give me your feedback and let me know if you would like to read some of my other ones as well..

Title: Adaptation
Genre: Supernatural, Mystery, Thriller
Starring: Kim Soo Hyun, Han Hyo Joo, Lee Soo Hyuk (Villain)

A young male and his family go out to hunt for Gumihos (Foxes). It's been a family tradition for centuries, but one day a rabid fox attacks them. The young male wakes up later to find that his whole family has been killed. With his wounds becoming infected and the rabies spreading through his body. He notices that his senses are heightened, his nails are longer, his fangs are extra sharp and that his eyes are glowing like a fox. Now overcome with anger, despising himself for turning into the very thing he hates.. A Gumiho... He devises a plan to seek revenge... He remembers a saying his father always told him, hat in order to catch a fox, you have to think like a fox. Tapping into his beastly side to hunt down this gumiho, he notices that the more he uses his fox-like senses, the less human-like he becomes... On his journey he runs into a female hunter who is also tracking down the same fox who killed her younger brother 5 years ago and they decide to team up. Not fully trusting her yet with his secret, he opts to keep it to himself.. but what will happen if the female hunter finds out that her new comrade is also a fox?
