Never say never. Lee Kwang Soo left “Running Man” because he did not want to be typecast as a comedian or variety show host. He wanted to concentrate on his acting career. Since his departure, he has done several movies and his latest series, “The Killer’s Shopping List.” But with most actors, he has had a lot of down time between acting projects.

Netflix Korea announced some of the new variety productions set to air in 2022 or early 2023. 'Korea No. 1' is a reality-based variety program hosted by Yoo Jae Suk, Lee Kwang Soo, and Kim Yeon Kyung. Each episode, the hosts will visit traditional Korean laborers and learn their trade. It has been stated that Netflix pays substantially more than Korean networks for variety show hosts. Yoo Jae Suk is the most compensated MC in Korea at $15,000 US/ episode. It is rumored Netflix doubles that amount.

OT Beanies! Are you ready? We’re having a PARTY on the fan wall this weekend! I’ll be putting together a Beanie-curated kpop/music play list. I mistakenly said it was the 3rd annual, but really it’s only the second Beanie Virtual Island Pandemic Playlist or BVIPP for short! So starting NOW until 0000, 12 am, Monday morning, go to your fan wall and post your favorite music that has gotten you through this year. Old songs, new comebacks, Korean or another native tongue, OST's or kpop, it’s fair game! I’ll collect them through the weekend and post them on Spotify and Youtube playlists.

For history, once upon a Beanie time, we had a Beanie Island Party celebrating the ships on A Poem A Day (You who forgot Poetry) and the first playlist was born. I’ve been putting them together every year since (except 2020—boo, but there was the @Azzo1 ‘s Wedding playlist that year, I believe). I’ve learned a lot about Korean music in the past 5 years, and love to hear new music. So here it goes! Previous playlist’s linked below.

I can't wait to listen to the whole list! I'm so out of touch with dramas and K-pop right now and it doesn't feel right. Thank you @ally-le.

It was funny this week around - everyone trying to show their muscle. too much attention seeking - too much fake hype build. all for politics. As said few weeks-months back - XI is little trouble

He played all his cards well upto now but that creates jealousy among others who were at the same position. XI is bigger than CCP and that's a concern. XI needed distraction and playing nationalist card actually help gain more brownie points from people. not that people matter much - dragon is getting annoyed by a fly but that fly's future is known beforehand.

Biden team also needed to score points and so they did and voters easily got baited. No +ve outcome, no outcome at all but narrative was build and that's what politics for you.

Everyone in power playing and fooling everyone while enjoying the luxuries and securing their future.

I'm 23 and I just realized that I am stuck in a rut. I have nothing to show for all my efforts and nothing much to write on my CV. So since I am currently not doing anything, I have decided to make a "BETTER ME" game plan. I want to be a better version of myself. I want to be someone I can be proud of.

That is an amazing idea and so many people wait until their 30’s and 40’s before they even think about it so you will be way ahead of the average person.
I talk about a manual for life with my clients as no one tells us how to be competent and confident adults. We don't have an induction plan we just learn on the job and hopefully get some friends/family and colleagues that act as coaches and mentors to help us along the way. Sometimes we pay for specific skills training from books, courses and professional coaches and therapists.

Have you seen the wheel of life for specific areas to focus on? Sometimes we go in heavy on certain areas and miss out on others and then we fail to be balanced. There are multiple versions online so it maybe something that helps you. Also Atomic Habits by James Clear is a great read for making small changes for improving life goals.

Oh my dear and constant Beanhomies,
So. Things are moving fast. I was just offered a position as a children's librarian in mn--close to my Dad. The position starts at the end of the month. So I have about 2 weeks to pack up and move to MN. Im excited but stressed tf out. I've been working full time at a Meijer superstore and that is so physically draining I don't have words for how exhausted I am at the end of the day. I'm hoping once I move and get settled I can get back to my drama watching habits. And, I'm hoping that this job will be...ok. Not even great or whatever. Just...ok. I'm exhausted by toxicity.

This is great news! Moving sucks but you will get through it and on the other side is your “real” job, easy access to your dad and plus, MN is beautiful. isa, fighting!

Find a charge point so you can binge watch while charging and catch up on a drama, audio book or read. Can you afford an upgraded lounge as they provide food and comfortable chairs and some offer massage and shower. Not sure how accessible the different levels are or how long for but should be cheaper than a hotel and would provide a nice space for at least some of the time.

1. I know family dramas are underrated, but I would really like a section or a drama hangout were I could talk about them.
I really wanna talk about It's Beautiful Now 😔 just like last year I wanted to talk about Be My Dream Family. I hope I'm not the only one thinking this, I hope the other (5? 10?) beanies watching the show feel the same otherwise what's the point LOL

2. This was the first week of the semester (my last semester in college).
I saw my therapist on monday and I told her "I want the semester to be over" and she was like "it hasn't started yet, LOL". It was hilarious.
I still want the semester to be over, but I liked this week (even if yesterday I almost die of frustrating because the transportation here sucks and it took me three hours to get home).

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well.
Have a nice weekend, beanies! ^^

Oh no that’s awful 3 hours🥺 I hope that’s an exception rather than the norm.

I was watching Bravo, my life. But it was on a dodgy site so I had to let it go but now I have found it on KBS world. It’s a daily driver so won’t be as good as the weekenders so I really will be the only person watching it but I agree it would be nice to have a space to discuss these dramas.

Wow all the best with the last semester it will fly by in no time so I hope you can keep the momentum on this last stretch.

Usually it is 1.5h or 2h if "something happens" but yesterday... It was so weird.

I have that show on my watchlist, the only daily dramas I've watched are Ugly Alert and Be My Dream Family. If you have recommendations, let me know.

Thanks! I hope so too ^^

That’s the only one I have watched recently and I was watching it as filler because all the dramas I was watching are on a Friday & Saturday.
I want to watch be my dream family.

I'm annoyed that Disney+ made a big deal about having kdramas, and none of them are available in my country. I want to watch In the Soop: Friendcation and Big Mouth :(

We were told about HiTV app last week. It’s got pop up ads and games but they are harmless a dn easy to get rid of just keep an eye on when and where to shut them down

You know what else is annoying about Disney+ kdramad? They have them in my region but they only have close captioned English subtitles- it’s great they have close captions for those who need them but it’s super distracting to see (sucks teeth) before every sentence (Soundtrack was a particularly bad offender for this phrase). At least we get to see the shows at all I guess.

So is My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho worth watching? Anyone who's seen it relatively recently, how does it hold up? Does Shin Min-ah do much aegyo? (I despise aegyo.)

Have you seen and liked many Hongs dramas? It's a quintessential Hongs drama.
Shin Min-ah is the queen of aegyo, Gumiho is no exception.

I've only seen Master's Sun (enjoyable through ep. 12, wish I'd skipped the rest, what's the big deal with So Ji-sub anyway?) and Alchemy (love it, with some reservations) so far. I've read quite a bit here and elsewhere about Hong dramas, so I have some idea what that means. If SMA was as aegyotastic as she was in Hometown CCC it's an absolute no for me.

She’s much younger in MGiaG so the aegyo is less annoying (at least to me).

I hit the play button about a year ago on this. It tops so many favorite drama lists, and I personally like older dramas so I thought I would give it a try. However, I was simply not able to finish this. I was bored. I do plan to try again (probably with use of the fast forward). Somehow, the humor didn't work for me. I've only seen a few of the Hong Sister's dramas, and none of them have stood out for me. I actually avoid them now and it feels as if everyone loves them but me! I do think this is one of those dramas that will engage or not engage you from the first half hour---so it will be quick to see if you like it.

You're not alone. I avoid Hongs dramas as well. There are more of us than you think.

I love it. It’s one of my favourite dramas. It’s not highbrow, the fashion is dated, Lee Seung gi hasn’t learnt how to do cool dramatic running yet and It is pretty heavy on the aegyo so if that’s not your thing you won’t like it.

But it’s funny and sweet and I was the right age for it when it came out so it works well for me. I have seen it approximately a million times though, so I’m probably not the best judge of how well it holds up.

Process question:
What is the best way to provide feedback about a recurring typo that spans multiple (but luckily years-old) recaps? I couldn't find a way to send private messages and wasn't sure what the community's norms are about reporting typos. Thanks in advance.
