I read this week that Korea, as well as many other countries, are paring back their travel restrictions caused by the pandemic. No longer required to have a negative test to enter the country (but subject to a test upon arrival). It is one of those unacceptable risks to book a two week holiday but on arrival have the possibility to be quarantined 10 days in a hotel.

In 2020, I had planned to go back to Seoul. If things truly get back to "normal" I would like to go back to Korea to explore other parts of the country. Are there any post-pandemic places you would like to travel to?

I was planning to visit Korea in 2020 too but I had to cancel my trip. So, I should go there the next year, I hope.

I had to cancel my trip to Poudlard in December 2021 too. I need to reschedule this one!

I hope I won't have to cancel my trip to Island between Christmas and the New Year this year!

I am preparing for my first international trip since Dec. 2019 (Germany).
Living in the US I had booked a tour to Morocco for Nov. 2020 which got canceled. I am picking up where I left off.
Sunday I am flying nonstop (a good thing nowadays) from Miami to Casablanca to begin a two week tour in Morocco. I am really looking forward to the trip and wonder how much travel mojo I have lost lol.

Going on vacation to South-east Asia with my friends next month! Will be my first international trip since Mar. 2020. Thankfully being vaccinated and boosted is all that's required for entry requirements now but will still stay masked and vigilant 😷!

I travelled to India and Portugal last year. I had the booster and was masked up. The first trip made me nervous but being careful and not attending crowded events helped me stay safe. Stay safe and have a great trip!
South east Asia sounds exciting!

I recently went to Europe (to visit Beanies!) and was so shocked I managed the whole 2+ week trip without getting sick, as it had been nearly a year since my last booster and I've never had the virus before. We masked on public transportation (in one country we visited it's still required, a pleasant surprise) and etc but we also ate in a lot of restaurants, so I consider myself lucky!

I’m planning on going to Korea in the next couple years. We’ll be going to the Mediterranean next summer as well.

It's kind of a new experience having to grudgingly settle in the fact that a good number of kdramas keeps the previews away from our enjoyment at the end of the weeks showing. It hurts especially when it happens in shows I am enjoying.

I know I should wait for the Love in Contract recap to post, but...

Love in Contract is NOT what I was expecting. More makjang than romcom (although it has elements of both). Also, I'm more invested in the roomie relationship than the romantic ones right now.

Are others as surprised as I am?

I'm itching likewise, but for something different.
To your point, I found many reasons to laugh. But a good number of the lols is hidden. It isn't thrown out for all to readily see.
The melo - I wasn't expecting it as well.

I laughed too (especially with the roomie interaction), but I feel like romcoms are usually lots of funny upfront with the melo saved for later, while this is a BIG hit of melo/suspense right up front.

I agree.
Perhaps there is a change in the formula progression now😁

I was surprised too as I only laughed in the second one. I am loving the cat’s attitude to it’s owner I can’t believe he still rings it daily in the vain hope it will come round!
I think once we know his profession the mystery element will go and it can settle into being rom com.

@edevan: There with you. Makjang is not my thing so was disappointed. I didn’t like the main characters much. For me the only plus is that it didn’t queerbait, had a gay character who wasn’t overly tormented and was seen to acknowledge his own desires as well as being a good roommate. He stood out. Of course, as a gay character he is still portrayed as straight passing but it is an improvement in my book.

What is your "must watch" drama that aired before 2019? Or a drama you can re-watch again and again?

I'm in the mood for an older drama and looking for some recommendations!

It's a stone cold classic. Park Yeon-seon is probably best known for Age of Youth, but I notice three of her older dramas have popped up in this thread: Alone in Love, White Christmas and Wild Romance. To which I'd add Evasive Inquiry Agency.

Life on Mars. Might sound weird since it's a thriller but it's my comfort watch - Jung Kyung-ho is just excellent and the show overall is beautifully directed and edited (esp. Ep.7!).

You're not. But the beanies who didn't like it keep a low profile - perhaps they fear Woori the kitty will shred them if they say it out loud. 🤣

The 2016 version of 1% is a remake of a 2003 series, which in turn is based on a web novel by the scriptwriter of both versions.

I just started The package and so far its been an enjoyable watch bunch of strangers go on a package tour to Europe all with their own story to tell. It is slice of life and showing a healthy dose of rom com. It’s a slow paced drama so may not be a good fit for some people.

There are some real gems in this list. I haven’t done a rewatch due to the backlog on the watchlist most of which are the older classics but as the more recent dramas are not to my taste I might have to start rewatching to maintain the happy glow I only get from a decent K drama.

'My Mister' aired in 2018. I had to finally stop rewatching when I realized I had memorized most-all of the dialog captions.

'Misty' also aired 2018. A psychological thriller of the first order. And I loved the ending. Watched it either 3 or 4 times.

'The Producers' from 2015 is always fun. It starts out as a mocumentary satire like 'The Office' then segues into standard K-drama rom com.

Going way back, 2006 'Couple Or Trouble' is a retelling of the US movie 'Overboard' and hold up pretty well.

Happy weekend Beanies and keep Beaning On!

It has been a few weeks! Either my mind or my agenda was occupied and it seems like September will finish in the same manner. My friend is coming over again tomorrow for another weekend sleepover. We are invited for dinner at a mutual friend’s place tomorrow evening and the three of us are attending two Western and Asian conventions on Sunday. Some appointments are tentatively scheduled for Monday, but my friend will be staying until Monday evening if things get postponed. Tuesday is preparation day for an important Wednesday meeting and by then I will be swimming in sleep and other stuff to catch up on. Not to mention K-dramas. I started and caught up on a couple of currently airing K-dramas this week, so I do hope October will be boring so that I can watch everything in peace and finally collect some more Beans!🙏🏻

I am absolutely loving Young Actors retreat and for me the star of the show is Inyeop. He is an absolute joy to watch, he keeps composing letters to his fans every time he gets scared like it’s his goodbye to them. I don’t do variety shows but this has had me crying with laughter so many times.

I started it because of you, beanies, raving about it and I feel no regrets. It puts a smile on my face throughtout the episode run. I want to see more interactions between the two senior guys, but each is a star on their own, so I guess we won't have much scenes of just Park Seo Joon and Ji Chang Wook.

That would be a great conversation amongst the veterans now the Ahjussi has left. Seojoon is very reflective, he was very encouraging and supportive on In the Soop: Friendcation. When I was looking for the other shows the Wooga squad had been in he seems to be the one who shows up the most to support a squad member with a show.

But the episodes are too short! Because there are a lot of people, the time flies.
They put a video on tving with Park Bo-Gum, Chae So-Bin and Kwak Dong-Yeong reacting to some scenes they didn't release yet... They should continue to release 2 episodes by week!

👍Yes two episodes a week or even better would have been to bulk release half the episodes week one and rest the following week.

I agree it makes sense to save the review process to the end when you can reflect on the whole series. Once the star rating feature is included it will be perfect.

Good morning everyone. I made tasty milk tea this morning. The weather is breezy and perfect for autumn.
There is a situation arising in Spanish Women Football's national team.
I am not an avid fan but it is interesting to follow the issue. Fifteen players vs the coach + Football association, and World Cup is next year. The association shows no intention to back down from its stance, covering the head coach. They will play with available players, sans the 15 if this continues.
