   I like all of the headers! Is this all Luv? Or does Javabeans contribute ideas to the headers too?

   I am so curious about the font type for the header with the following stars: gong yoo, song hye gyo, and song seung heon. I love that font and how “Javabeans” looks in that font! =)

   The last merlot header is also very stylish! Love the color and how they all seem to mysteriously fit together in the header!

   All the credit for the headers goes to Luv! She’s wonderful, isn’t she? I just collect photos that I like and dump a bunch of them onto her, and every so often she’ll surprise me with a new header, and it feels like Christmas.

   I love that font too…it almost makes me feel like I’m getting Javabean’s autograph…hehe…

   And gail…hehe…no…I’m not doing this for a living.
   I had a small window of opportunity years ago to get into that profession but I decided against it. It’s a lot more fun as a hobby.

   Fascinating. There are a lot of similarities here between you as graphics artist and javabeans as writer and translator. You aren’t a professional, but you do graphic design a whole lot better that many “real” professionals do, and moreover you do it fluently and fast. I notice you don’t take up the query about whether you have tutorial tips to offer, but I suspect that’s because each and every technique you use is already pretty well covered in existing Photoshop and similar tutorials, and even if people were a dab hand at those techniques, that wouldn’t make them even remotely capable of creating anything like you create, even if handed the same raw materials.

   In the same way, javabeans must, on all the evidence, be a pretty fast and accurate typist, but investing in the latest Mavis Beacon CD isn’t going to turn anyone into a writer with javabeans’ powers. And as with javabeans in her writing, you achieve very impressive effects in your graphics precisely by never straining for effect. You see underlying patterns, contrasts and similarities in the geometry and rhythms and mood and hues of images (including typefaces, for which you have plainly a superb visual feel) and you create montages which allow others to share your visual imagination.

   But most importantly, to my eyes at least, you and javabeans both do this the Blogland Way. You do it for love and share it with love, and the love and devotion you put into your work, both of you, comes out and touches all of us and enriches our lives all over the planet. Because you two do what you do so well and so generously, a lot of other people are encouraged to live and behave generously themselves. Not all the time, and maybe often not so much or so often that anyone would particularly notice; but all the same, you show that “making the world a better place” is neither a sentimental dream nor a cliché. You both do it, every day. I think that’s your truest and most valuable achievement.

    I am loving the last header…everytime the header rotates, I’ll be secretly hoping that the ninth merlot header comes up! When it doesn’t, I sulk. HA!

    I think things are sometimes better left as a hobby too…especially if you like the freedom to do it whenever, whatever and sometimes if don’t feel like it, you can just not do it. There are no restrictions and other motivations except for the love of doing it.

    Just wanted to say that your headers are quite exquisite – this coming from a Photoshop phobic and klutz. Thanks for sharing your talent! It’s a good thing that you included a good mix of male/female entertainers… cuz if it were up to me, this will be a fangirl playground and none of these fine actresses will ever make it onto the headers (hehehe).

    Actually…the theme for the blue one is change.
    I told Javabeans the story behind it the other day…hehe…
    At first I made it in black and white…Jo In Sung’s picture is almost like a sketch…he’s not “real”…hehe…you can see the transition as we get to the other side…hehe…
    I added the blue tint…because that’s the color of hope.
    I’m hoping that our dreams will come true.

    Looks like we all have the same favorite, LOL. Although the Coffee Prince one is a close second for me — I just love how it’s simple, with the coffee beans on white, spilled so prettily, and the picture peeking through what looks like droplets (like seeing the image in a pool of coffee?). And the new blue one is gorgeous too — I really like how Jo In Sung is almost a drawing, and So Ji Sub shows up in lovely shadowy contrast. (Not to ignore the other kids, haha! They’re all lovely.) I really love how the headers are getting more and more diverse, design-wise, but they all have Luv’s stamp on them.

    Ah…so that is the story behind the latest banner. What is the concept/theme behind the “Favorite Child”? Do you mind sharing?

    Here’s my impression when I first saw the “Jo In Sung , Kim Sun Ah and So Ji Sub” banner…to share with you.
    I was immediately attracted to the two extremes of change, the darkest side (So Ji Sub) and brightest side (Jo In Sung). But the middle empty space was very bright. Some reason it is as if light is coming off that space…very bright light. So my very first impression when I saw the banner was “Exposed Film”…it is like a film, it was exposed in the middle…

    Another first impression…the Coffee Prince banner. For some really odd reason, I thought about “Milk” when I saw it..even with coffee beens in the banner, the overall colors and blotches of brown on white just reminds me of cow-motifs. Do I even make sense now? yeah…I risk sounding a little loony….

    My favorite is the latest header. It reminds me of overexposed B&W photographs/movies. It just speaks for my love for shadow and light. Ahh, life is like a good black and white photograph; there’s black, there’s white, and there’s many shades in between! Too bad javabeans can’t rotate the blog template color to compliment the rotating headers’ tones. That would be awesome. Great job Luv. Thanks for letting us in on the secrets of the header master.     I wanted Javabeans to “shine”…is she shinning too brightly? hehe…
    I was working on that banner deep into the night. I’m not sure if I was waiting for the sun to rise or not…hehe…maybe Gramps is right about my sources of inspiration…hehe…
    Ginnie…reading your impression on the Coffee Prince banner…reminds me of those optical illusions…sometimes different people see different things when given the same image. Our brains see things differently…hehe…and that’s the beauty of it.
    I went back and looked at that banner again through your perspective and was thrilled to see what I haven’t seen before…hehe…Thanks.

    This picture is one classic example of those optical illusions I talked about…

    As for the story behind the red banner…you might be surprised to hear but I don’t have a story for that one…hehe…except most of the pictures are top picks from a new batch of pictures she sent me. Oh…and Javabeans likes gu hye sun and eric next to each other.
    I really like that picture of gu hye sun…I couldn’t recognize her at first.

    Tealeaf…I also love black & white pictures…they’re so artistic…mysterious & lovely.

    Heee…I remember the old lady vs. young lady illusion. I remember seeing a black and white version before…first time seeing this in color. I think first impressions are very strong and lasting. It is like no matter how much I remember seeing both old lady and young lady, I only remember the old lady’s features/face. hehe……

    You know, I did not recognize Gu Hye Sun too. She’s always so sweet looking but this one..was somewhat different in a good way. I don’t know what exactly though. =)

    Sarahbeans, is there a particular reason for the GHS and Eric pair-up?

    doozy, no particular reason for the pair-up other than me thinking the two photos looked particularly nice together. Something about the way both actors are kind of in an unusual “look” from their norm, with the nice dark contrast in the colors/shades. I really like the hint of red in GHS’s blush and her lollipop, so it was especially nice that Luv chose to use the red as the accent for the entire header.

    My favorite child now has a sibling that is snatching the top spot! I don’t know how to choose anymore..because I love the last header with Nam Sang Mi, Ju Ji Hoon, and Han Ga In. The colors are very comfortable to look at…very cozy-looking with nice dark shades. I also like Han Ga In’s eyes in this. So mesmerizing……

    I like both headers, especially the cig-puffing JJH pix – the smoke seals the deal for me. I also notice that its font is similar to those found on burlap coffee beans sacks, appropriate for the author of this blog. Nam Sang Mi looks so happy in the other header- she’s adorably appealing. Great job Luv.

    I made the happy banner after the sad one…
    You might wonder why I kept using JJH’s pictures…hehe..
    He’s not my most favorite actor but I was surprised how good his pictures turned out.
    I made 3 banners that day. The first one is the darkest and the last one is the happiest. All 3 has JJH’s picture in there…lol…
    I didn’t send the first one to Javabeans yet because…I’m trying to replace JJH…lol…but for some reasons…that picture of JJH is still the best choice…so I’m stuck.
    His photographers are really good at capturing the right emotions. I’m so impressed.

    Oh ginnie…I forgot to tell you…for that optical illusion picture…I always see the young lady…hehe…I didn’t see the old lady until I saw the color version of that picture…

    The black and white header featuring kim haneul and eric is very sharp!

    Hi Luv,
    That Sam Soon banner is going make a lot of SamShik shippers happy. Ah, brought back good memories. It was the first K-drama that i’ve watched. A couple of laptop computers later, i’m a Soompi veteran. From this angle, HB and KSA almost have the same haircut (hehe). Pretty pretty man (more than Daniel Henney, IMO), but his PR machine is out of control. It’s interesting to see how those foursome’s careers have advanced since then. Still waiting for them to come out of the MNIKSS’ shadow.

    If you put a bow on the other pink banner, it’ll look like a present. Are you planning to do a holiday-themed banner? Gong Hyo Jin always surprised me with her quiet unassuming beauty. Definitely a talented young actress. I see that you’re leaning toward B&W pix more. Great job as always.

    @ merriwether: really like your creation; credit is long overdue though. Didn’t know until i dropped by this section. You gals are so talented. Like your blog too (hope you don’t mind that i stopped by). Sassy. Opinionated (in a good way, of course). Perfect. But, girl, how can you not love McFadyen in P&P? LOL.

    You two are so creative. Love your banner creations. They’re like works of art and I always look forward to seeing new ones. Really got a kick from the one featuring the MKIKSS cast too.

    I was surpised to see Nam Sang Mi as she’s one of my favourite actresses right now and I didn’t recognize her more modern image as she often plays a less worldly character. Go Su also looks hot too, I could just eat him up, yum.

    Thanks LUV for all the banners…Merriwether too. they’re all gorgeous to look at and they compliment javabeans/dramabeans site very well too.
    it’s funny but whenever i go on this site and there’s a new banner, i try to guess who the actors/actresses are before i come to this link…haha.
    BOY, this site has everything: dramas, music, and guessing games! haha
    anyways, my favorites include the more casual-looking ones..like
    - the one w/ tablo, kang ji hwan, seo ji hye
    - the one w/ lee da hae, kang ji hwan, and im soo jung
    - and the ones that include all great artors (heo yi jae, kim myung min, park shin hye, hyun bin, uhm tae woong, and jang dong gun)
    my new favorite is the one with go ara, jung yumi (totally didn’t recognize her…she looks like she came out of a 1920s-30s movie), and yoon kyesang. it’s weird but they all look so different yet familiar in their poses. (for those of you watching “Who Are You?”, doesn’t Go Ara look older and more compatible with yoon kyesang in the banner…makes the whole age thing miraculously disappear.)
    also, javabeans, where do you find these pictures of celebrities smoking? is it popular in korea to have celebrities doing smoking poses? they DO look cool and suave, but it’s just a little bit weird for me.

    O.o Great job, Luv. You’re varying your styles too. Before, I felt a sense of you “stacking the pics”, then adding details, but not anymore. Your style always felt darker, and intense to me, but you’ve been experimenting with brighter colors, and it looks great. It’s till very memorable, but has a happier feel to it.

    And I love some of your background pictures. The coffee beans, for one. And I adore the lemon, for some reason…

    And Javabeans, I can see the footprints of your series or star fandom….Sam Soon, Coffee Prince, Kang Ji Hwan, The Last Scandal of My Life…..It’s almost blatantly obvious, but I like it. It makes the banner infuse your own personality. The interpretation is Luv, but the choices are really all yours. One question: Do you like all the actors/actresses on the banners, or do you pick the pics for other reasons (ie. they look good?) Ex: Daniel Henney. Last I checked, you didn’t like his acting that much…

    Miki, they do rotate. Your browser cache is probably storing the old header. You can force reload the page by hitting CTRL + F5 on a PC (not sure what the command is on a Mac).

    Wow, these headers are amazingly done!
    I like their simplicity. Not too many details and the main part really pops!
    I’m learning to use photoshop rite now, and these headers actually inspired me to do so. Just hope it wouldn’t take too long time before i can create stuff like Luv!

     Jean, pigeon…Sarah usually sends me pictures and I just use them to make headers. Sometimes…if I see some pictures I really like…I’ll use them but they’re mostly from the same group of people in the batch of pictures she sent me.

     chajjye…I think I got all the pictures from Soompi and some of the blogs on Javabean’s linky.
     You should check the individual threads dedicated to the actors/actresses and maybe the photo threads.
     I usually collect the pictures as I browse the sites.
     Some of the best pictures are from fashion magazines like Vogue Korea, Elle Korea, InStyle Korea…etc…
     If all else fails…just search for them through Korean portal sites like Naver.
     They will point you to pictures from the actors’s cafe.(official fan sites)

     BellaMafia, chajjye & Scarlet…wow…I don’t know what to say…but I’m very touched & happy that you find the headers inspiring. That’s the best compliment I’ve ever received. Thank you so much.

     I’ll try to answer some questions since I’m here now

     * How long does it take to make a banner?
     It usually takes somewhere around 1-2 hours to make a “good” banner but sometimes it can take as long as 5 hours and as quick as 20 minutes.
     It all depends on how “inspired” I feel…hehe..how creative I am at that point in time.

     * Are you by any chance a graphic artist professionally, or is this just for fun?
     I always love graphic designs. Up until now, I’m doing it as a hobby but I’m thinking about a change of career. It would be wonderful to do something you truly love.

     * I was wondering what kind of program do you use to make the headers?
     I use Adobe Photoshop…I think it’s the most powerful program in graphic design.
     I’ve been using it on and off for about 10 years now. I still remember the first day I opened the program…and closed it because I don’t know what to do with it…hehe…but I kept opening it again and again.
     My only advice is don’t give up.

     Javabeans.. I opened you homepage and it immediately puts a smile on my face just by looking at you banner!!! I am looking at the banner of JGS and PSH in YB, with the kiss scene. Thank you!! I was feeling down this week because I know know matter how I log in to YB soompi thread, and other blogs and streaming sites, no more updates of new BTS and previews will come out of YB. I am feeling rather empty actually.

     I just want to let you know that this site (it also means you!) are able to make me smile after a long day.. makes me laugh after a tiring day, and makes me happy after a sad encounter. Thanks so much!! This site has already been my “home” for the past 3 or so years.

     But yeah.. seeing that new banner of YB especially with the TK and MN’s kiss on the balcony is a real gem!

     Gorgeous new headers, Slim! Tae, your IRIS banners are wonderful! I’ve been waiting for them for a while.

     It’s too bad that some had to be retired – they will be missed! I’ve noticed that there are no longer any active banners with Hyun Bin. *coughcoughandhinthint* However, the new ones are just as beautiful as the retired ones, so may they live long lives as well!
