Music March Phantom of The Opera was my first musical play and I get to watch it in Broadway. It was magnificent and definitely unforgettable experience.
Mine was phantom too! But the touring version with Robert Gullaume (he played Benson in a 1980โs show of the same name). Unforgettable experience! I bought the CD and libretto and learned every word of every song.
My first musical was Cats, in London.
But there’s a funny story about how I first listened to this musical: my sister (who loved musicals) had been in London for a month to study English, and in her class was this German girl who also loved musicals, so she bought lots of LP in HMV store and gave my sister a cassette with songs from all the musicals she had bought and they both enjoyed singing along. When they both went back to their countries, the German girl sent a cassette with the Phantom recorded on it, and my sister listened to it all the time. So I was listening to it all the time as well. Music of the night is one of the first pieces I remember learning by heart.
Ah… Cats is also one on my list since forever. Hehe.
My aunt has a CD of all the soundtrack which I won’t attempt to learn. The songs are just too high!

I think I saw an old movie adaptation on TV first, but the play was so much better!

I know them by heart, and I have the book of poems as well.
