#fightingcovid19 #anintrovertfightinganxiety
First of all… i pray for the health and safety of all the beanies across the globe. and hope we all survive this phase together despite all the trauma this Covid19 is causing (my anxiety is at its peak as I cant keep my mind away from all the what ifs of future).

But at same time.. I am trying to watch all my dropped/on hold shows of past years. And hoping ill finish them this time finally.

Laslty.. just wanted to have this thread where all the beanies can talk abt their copping techniques, how they are managing this self isolation/social ditancing time, if they have annxiety (like me) how they are able to handle it. Also if there is anything you all are doing to utilize this time to do better things.. feel free to share so that it can help others alike.

Well… my town only has about 3 cases so far so IDK if it’s representative of other places in the world. But for me, I just try not to get wrapped up in the media hype. It’s too over the top. Plus, I don’t really go out much anyway, except for shopping and classes. I try to follow orders, wash hands, stay in when sick. I’m not panicking about the virus. But what I AM scared of is human behaviour.

In my region alone (we’re about 2 million inhabitants) 50 people died, 12 of them in the last 24 hours, so we’re taking this issue very seriously. Before things got ugly, I was sure this was all media hype and paranoia, but now I’m quite aware of this health crisis’ ramifications.

Anyway, we’ve been home for almost a week now – 2 adults and 2 kids in a smallish flat with no balcony. We’re quite sure we’ll be fine, but it’s hard to keep mentally balanced and everybody getting along well in such conditions. So far we’ve learned:

*timetables and routines help: getting up at a set time, getting dressed, eating meals at the table, etc.,

*we dedicate mornings to remote school. My partner works from home too, and I help the kids and fiddle with my Korean flashcards, so almost until lunch time we are all set,

*limiting screen-time for kids and adults helps everybody getting less grumpy and anxious, we actually limited the time on our kids’ tablet and it shuts sessions when the time is up… Usually they groan for about 30 seconds and just start doing something else without any need for us to get involved,

*which connects with selecting what entertainment we consume, we try to watch some documentaries instead of allowing kids to watch bs on YT nonstop… Also watching 1 Welcome to Waikiki episode a day with kids 😉

*our cooking skills are seriously improving, it’s a good way to keep kids busy,

*getting enough movement is our main problem, we try to cope with online tutorials and dancing, but it’s not enough

So, this are my strategies so far… How are you coping?

By the way, we’re almost finished with Welcome to Waikiki, can anybody recommend me a funny drama to watch with kids?

thats fantastic technique for sure. and thanks for sharing. I might borrow some of your ways as mine is all scattered all over the place.
I usually dont go out at all as I work from home for last 1 year. But when you are asked to do not to go out strictly you feel even more anxious.. and then every day rising number of patients is the worse thing for me (PS:our city has the highest number of patients in whole country)

I dint have any techniques so far.. i just try to finish my daily work quota then watch some dramas, cook and clean… and drink lots of water. But then the moment i switch on tv everything goes to toss… am sick of all the high fi words news channels are using to portray how killer Covid is. So from today onwards i hav started to stop watching news channels completely. All i am doing is watching dramas as much as I can.

Lets see how much this will help in coming week.

@KS_One life one chance, everythin you say sounds like good coping to me. And I think your instincts are right: news channels only make it worse… I only watch the evening news just to check up that we’re not going to hell, and usually not even the whole thing. We’re better off in Dramaland!
        We can make this, fighting!

thank you… and we can make it to the light for sure…. its just how well we manage the isolation healthily.

and news channels make it horrible for me… my anxiety symptoms are choking throat and the moment i watch one single news anytime of the day my choked throat never leaves until i go to bed at night. and whole day i feel so perplexed.

hope ill be better without them going forward.

Not now, but last year I had a really tough time for health reasons. My sister recommended me an app called Headspace, it helped me a lot!

@KS_One life one chance Thank you for your well wishes! I want to extend my well wishes to you and your loved ones as well. I am currently at work but soon I’ll be working from home (my library has closed for the remainder of this month). Honestly, I try and avoid listening to the news as much as possible. I hear enough about Covid19 from my colleagues. I am focusing on my work, watching movies/shows/listening to music whenever I can. I have family in Sicily as well as near Rome. My thoughts are always with them and how their lives/habits have changed. Thankfully, they are safe and making the best of their situations.

I havent checked the links out but if you scroll to the end of this post there seems to be some resources for anxiety related to this pandemic.
Also in the comments what looks like a delightful video from Mo Williems the author and illustrator.
