Hahaha! this was the pinnacle of indian drama madness! She is the typical candy but one from village & with no idea about tech… wanted to help our hero and do something nice for him… hence really clean his most precious belonging! Lolol
Oh my goodness, THANK YOU for explaining that to me because I had no idea what was going on. I was just incredulous the entire time and found it to be the most funniest thing. Oddly enough, I didn’t doubt that it was an actual show and not a parody, I was just so flabbergasted at what she was doing but couldn’t look away. Lol! Omg, your explanation makes it funnier, but also very endearing!
Despite being Indian & being vaguely aware of this show, even I thought it was parody! But nope.. it’s an absolutely imp moment in the show.. just when the candy is beginning to change the hero’s heart, she goes and does this! (& of course the laptop had super super imp & vitally urgent documents w/o backup on it)
It’s just soo insane but i guess for the makjang elements of the show – makes her act all the more dramatic ! Lol
My fav part is that not only does she wash it clean.. but dries the laptop on a clothesline!!! Pure gold!
Bollywood dramas are always super makjang, I was obsessed with shows like Jyoti, Main Teri Parchhain (dunno if I spelt that right) Hoon, Kitni Mohabbat Hai, and Radha Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi but they all had like 1 million episodes and the plot moved at a snail’s pace.
Woaaah!! You have great patience & high tolerance! I gave up on bwood makjang long ago.. when grandma watches, i join once in a month or so & can still follow the storyline.. thanks to the million episodes & snail’s pace.
The only show I enjoyed and managed to sustain the makjang in was Iss Pyaar ko kya naam doon (though i think it dropped even this somewhere around episode 250!). Have u seen this?
Nope, I didn’t finish any of those shows because the channel I watched them just stopped showing them. I tried catching up via YouTube but I couldn’t remember what episode I stopped. I tried watching Bwood dramas recently and I realized how cringe they are.
Gosh I feel you! They usually start with a decent premise but i guess the pressure of belting out 20mins of show everyday for years at a go kills the show.. cringe-worthy is exactly the word for it!
That was my major draw for kdrama – fixed short 16-20 hour format – so the story doesnt go berserk. Since kdrama addiction started, havent seen any bwood drama – srk movies keep me happy 😉
Ahaha! I think it helped that the actress was SO SERIOUS throughout the vid, that I was like, “This is probably real.” Haha.
Omg, it just keeps getting better! Poor Candy. I kinda wanna know what happens next…
Lol! i didnt have it in me to continue watching it… this clip gave me enough incentive just to find out what in the world it was about. This series is called Saath Nibhana Sathiya (realize how difficult it’s to translate it’s name cuz of the cultural differences… something like “Do ur duty of being together O partner” but in a romantic sense- obviously im not cut out for the translating job!)
but warning you this show has something like 2000+ episodes and still ongoing i think!
Omg, WHAT!?! 2000+ eps!?! Ahaha, oh noes! They’re practically LIVING the show. Oh man, props to them.
Aw, hahaha! Love the rough translation of that title. Especially that last part–”O-Partner.”
You’ve probably watched enough Indian shows to recognize the tropes and themes, huh? Watta pro. 👍🏼😉
Hahaha! They literally do live the show! Many of these shows go on to show stories of next gen and i think one of the oldest running shows which ran for close to 10 years (every weekday) had 3 & half generation story lines it covered with every makjang thing possible thrown in from birth secrets, amnesia, kidnapping, face changing plastic surgery, etc etc. It’s crazy.
In between it was a fad to introduce supernatural elements too.. so there was this show where our candy gets turned into a fly – a legit house fly by some evil-doers’s magic… & she even saves her family members from tragic stuff as a fly.. don’t even ask…
My goodness. That’s too much of an investment, man–for the viewers and for the actors and crew involved. Props to everyone for sticking through! Sounds like one wild roller coaster ride. Haha.
Lol @ the literal fly on the wall concept! That’s too funny! I’m not even gonna ask HOW she saved her family AS A FLY!?! Ahaha!
LOL! I love how incredulous the OP is in regards to the show’s ridiculousness. The ladies are gorgeous, though. That’s really all I can. The memes are funny, but I feel bad. Then again, I love that the show’s owning it, despite getting so much crap from netizens. Lawl, I guess it really does have loyal fans, though. Everyone has their thing. Sasural Simar Ka is one of those things. Ha.
OMG! I somehow found this thread (from @snarkyjellyfish‘s comment on @sicarius‘ wall to @chingu‘s comment on @snarkyjellyfish‘s- long process indeed and I was being a good lurker till I saw all your comments here!!! Pure gold! And you are explaining it all so seriously and @chingu‘s surprise at all the explanations is hilarious!! LMAO
How??! I couldn’t go back fat enough on any of their walls to see what could have led you here.. but you sure are a dedicated lurker! Muah!
And how could i not respect the all seriousness with which she was wading the laptop ??! I mean I just hadd to explain the intensity the sincerity and the expression of love going into this gesture! Lol
Plus did you ever catch that snippet of simmar fly avatar saving the hubby from the kamadev’s flowers decorated arrow (in case chingu is reading this.. he is the Indian equivalent of cupid but a lot more adult and more angsty a character with a complicated backstory etc) by coming in the way of the arrow as a fly??!! I total wanted to post that here but thought it would go waaay over any non indian’s understanding and tolerance! 😂
This was hilarious! I never watched it on TV or I would have thrown something at the TV out of laughter but 2nd hand embarrassment at someone being so stupid (but you know, it is also a somewhat believable situation! Poor people wouldn’t know how to clean a laptop or even what a laptop is!)
My granny used to watch Sasural Simar Ka when it had just started! Good thing she left it after the first 100 or so episodes! 😛 I did know that the show had gone into supernatural territory but didn’t it was THIS stupid!
Hahaha! You studious lurker! 😛
But maan.. you gotta watch those few episodes for comic relief.. beyond any imagination! Plus did you know there was this rally famous Telugu movie “eega”.. which is all about a guy who becomes a fly and saves the day.. ! Which is what simmar was inspired by.. but to be fair..i heard that movie was actually good and well done
