Do any gardening or gastronomic beanies know if you can use horseradish instead of wasabi? We have a forest of horseradish here and the only recipe I know is for horseradish sauce with roast beef.

Horseradish and roast beef sound so good right now. Mmmm…yummy. And none of that watered down crap – I want to feel the burn!

As for your actual question, I think the answer is yes. Doing some research it seems, at lest in the US, that our “wasabi” is actually missing the wasabi root and is just horseradish with green dye. Haha. There were lots of websites discussing using one in place of the other. Other possible substitutes, and depending on the taste you are goin for, included mustard or fresh ginger. https://www.leaf.tv/articles/how-to-substitute-for-horseradish/

Thanks @umbrellaman There is a whole corner of the stuff in the veg plot so if we can use it or preserve it in some way that’s great.
