Most people want fairy tale kind of love. I want the messy ones with baggage that leaves you a wreak in its aftermath. Love should irrevocably change your being or is it even love? #dearmyfriends

I think many people get that idea pushed on them and they think they’re suppose to want that. Thankfully i feel like there’s a shift in culture for more complex and different views of love. You want fairy tale? Alright. You want messy? Cool too. You want equal partnership? Go for it. There’s enough room for all the different iterations of love out there. ❤️ I’d like to see them in my reality and on my screen.

I’m totally on board with your idea that love should change you. Hopefully it makes you a kinder, wiser and cooler person but uhh it doesn’t always.
There should be some kind of an effect though.

@toramona That’s one aspect of K-dramas that I love: the sheer variety of themes and topics and the way it is executed. You are right in that there are so many different portrayals of love now its not the simple boy meets girl story anymore. Well there is that too but there is a market now for dramas that are more complex and character driven then before. Which totally makes me a happy camper!

I am glad you agree with me on the idea of love changing a person. I just visualize it as a storm of emotions passing through your life and how can you not change after that? granted as you said its not always angst free but real life very seldom is. I like my romance dramas to mimic that and show the angst but also give me an ending where the couple works past all that and lives happily ever after! Discovery of Romance is one that I repeatedly watch and even though the main character is frustrating I love her messy relationship with Eric Mun.

Oh hey yeah Eric is rad I saw him in Another Oh Hae-Young. I have Discovery of Romance saved I caught a bit of the first episode and really liked the misunderstandings going on. I’m excited sounds like from your preferences and enthusiasm for this show it’s a good one. Score!

@toramona Yes I love Eric! Funnnily enough, I watched a bit of Another Oh Hae-Young and even though everyone has been raving about it I haven’t watched it yet for some reason. But from your comment it sounds like I should give it a try. Hopefully you will like Discovery!
