Has anyone (US viewers esp) heard of KoCoWa or started using it yet? http://variety.com/2017/digital/news/korean-streaming-service-kocowa-us-1202502916/ Thoughts?

This is so funny you mentioned this. I was just discussing this on my fan wall. Kocowa sucks. But thankfully they partnered up with Viki so you can get Kocowa content now through Viki and can bypass Kocowa altogether. See my post et al for details: http://www.dramabeans.com/members/umbrellaman/?page=fan_wall

A Viki Pass Plus is the same as what I currently pay for Netflix. I find that morally bankrupt. Sure you can try to justify it in saying you have to pay your subbers etc. but that’s a pretty big hike for access to content from three ‘additional’ TV stations. Not even Crunchyroll screws me over that bad. This is what pisses me off about when you try to do things the legal way and they try to take advantage of you.

You know, I was so excited yesterday when I found out that I could pay more to Viki for Kocowa shows. Yay! I don’t have to deal with Kocowa’s crappy player anymore. Yay! I no longer have to countenance paying an exhorbitant amount for said crappy player if I don’t want to be limited to watching a show within 24 hours of its airing. Yay! I still have to pay more, but not nearly as much as I was expecting. Yay!

And then I got to thinking. I wonder if the whole thing was intentional. What if it wasn’t a poorly planned, hasty rollout of Kocowa like I had assumed. Maybe they meant to be super crappy so that I would be excited rather than pissed about Viki upping their prices. You know, like spreading layoff rumors before announcing a wage freeze.
