I write and think too much…
And inflict both on you all mwahahaha

Cons of the Kwon Ji Yong Concert:
The screaming- I think I flinched every time there was a really loud one. Donโ€™t get me wrong, I love a good cheer, and foot stomp, and I can wolf whistle like nobodyโ€™s business, but the screaming just makes me wanna curl into a protective ballโ€ฆ and also;
I just want to hear him talk guys!!! Please stop screaming I donโ€™t know what heโ€™s saying!! Argh!
I didnโ€™t really feel the crowd vibe at times but I actually rarely feel the crowd vibe and it usually has nothing to do with the artist Iโ€™m watching and more to do with me and the crowd.
There was a girl behind me and she kept yelling โ€˜TAKE IT OFFโ€™ during his video monologue thing, talking about his shirt, and then she yelled โ€˜GET OFF HIMโ€™ at a dancer and she was kinda really irritating because I donโ€™t care if it was a joke and you were trying to be funny ITโ€™S NOT RESPECTFUL AND HEโ€™S NOT YOUR PIECE OF MEAT AND DID YOU EVEN GET THE MESSAGE OF THAT VIDEO OR NOT (video to follow dw, so you know what Iโ€™m talking about lol)
It was too short! haha
It was loud

Sounds like everything you expected from the crowd :/

Yeah… I’d love to see him in Seoul or something. To compare crowds.

I have a feeling you would end up loving the NZ crowd more in retrospect! ๐Ÿ˜›

*shrugs* Maybe… I don’t know. I have literally nothing to compare it to hahaha

          1

Hmm… true.. but from what I have seen of the Korean fans, there is more a possibility of them being crazier! But yeah, one can never be sure!

            2
            0

Mmm yes, but they have organized fanchants (which I would love in full force to see not gonna lie) and I feel like they’re less likely to scream whilst he’s talking…

          3
          1

Oh yes! Because they will understand what he is saying and thus more likely to listen to it! Plus you might not understand (was this always a difficult word to spell) what they are saying and thus more likely to only focus on what he is saying..

            2
            0

Yes!!! All of that! PLus can you imagine an ocean of light sticks too ahhhh
and getting a seat right up the back for full immersion (best place, trust me, with 20k plus people, it’s like being on top of the world)

          3
          1

Light sticks always look so pretty whenever I look at all the random concert performances..

I will remember that when buying tickets for my first ever kpop concert whenever that might be! Though that might be too far in the future right now.. no popular kpop group is gonna come to India for a few more years at least!

And some of them do really cool things, like rainbows and stuff. Idk but lightsticks man.

That’s experience was not actually at GD, it was at a Hillsong conference I was at in Sydney two years ago. I wanted seats up the back for GD but they didn’t open up the back seats cos there weren’t enough people to fill them.
          But anyway

I was checking out some groups’ lightsticks and Mamamoo’s are adorable! I loved quite a lot of lightstick designs so can’t pick which one I loved best! And clearly a lot of thought goes behind designing them..

So it wasn’t a big crowd?

            2
            0

Hehehe yes Mamamoo’s is great. I love Block B’s as well. It makes a shadow pattern. Oh I bet! Actually that’s one of my favourite things about the kpop industry, is that the production level of the artwork; lightsticks, posters, photography, MVs, packaging design, etc etc, is so high and so cool.

Eh no there was. Sort of. It’s kinda hard to explain. Maybe not big like you’ve seen haha. The stadium only holds 12k in the first place, and it’s not actually that big an arena (or maybe I’ve just seen too many videos of concerts elsewhere haha)
Floor tickets were all standing, and that was maybe 2/3 – 3/4 full. All the seats at right angles and 45 degrees to the stage were full. But the stands opposite, 45-90 degrees, the top seats were closed off. So if you imagine two tiers then the bottom tier was open. The girl I was sitting next too was kinda surprised he didn’t sell out. But this is NZ. Kpop is still pretty small here. And the tickets were expensive. And well, the reaction I got from the two people I told who were like ‘you came all the way from the SI for this?’- meaning that I’m sure there would’ve been more from the rest of the country who wanted to go, but because it costs the price of another concert ticket to get up there, and NZers don’t travel unnecessary distances unless they have to, that would’ve dropped the numbers as well I think. Most of the crowd were either Korean or another South East Asian nationality (Chinese, Filipino etc). There was a good amount of guys! Which I wasn’t exactly surprised by but I guess I was pleased that there were so many guys.

          1

Was this one of the first Big Bang concerts in NZ? or just one of the first Kpop concert?
I guess we can’t really compare it to say Japan or China cuz Kpop’s popularity there is crazy! And maybe the tickets there are cheap too?

            2
            0

Ugh… I just googled that cos I wasn’t sure… There have been three Kpop concerts in NZ in the last 10+ years (according to wikipedia). B.A.P and SEVENTEEN in 2016 and GD… -.-

I think they are comparatively cheaper yes.

          3
          1

Ah so still in the beginning phase of kpop craze there I guess…
You like SEVENTEEN right? Their music or variety?

            2
            0

Yeah? Or we just don’t have the population to pull a lot of acts. (4.5 million is not a lot)

Hahahaha I do like SVT! Ahhh both. It’s like having 13 younger brothers ๐Ÿ˜›
Uhm their music is very upbeat and probably the poppiest stuff I listen to, but Very Nice is … Very VERY Nice. One of the first kpop songs I really loved too, and then I slowly got into their other stuff; they’re pretty easy listening, great for travelling.
Variety- I personally find them thoroughly enjoyable, and they hype each other up so much, cos they’re all so close, it’s like having a pile of very dorky, very loud but talented puppies (and maybe a couple of kittens). Chaos, but great fun.

            Lol.. true!

Hahah! Nice! ๐Ÿ˜› I have liked the 2-3 songs I have heard of theirs… Very hummable! I think I have just seen them in WI once or twice.. they looked like adorable kids but just too many to remember their names ๐Ÿ˜›
Oh and their dance formations are so so cool!

            2
            0

          Very hummable indeed!
They’re the only group I think to have been on One Fine Day twice, I haven’t seen their second season yet, but the first one is great.
Oh man, I swore black and blue I wasn’t gonna get into them because there were too many names to remember too… Until it bugged me that I didn’t know who was who and binge learnt them all in about 3hrs hahaha
And yes! Their dancing is fantastic. Mad respect to Hoshi and his team for self choreo-ing everything, and having set choreos for different remixes and for so many team members and revised version for when a member isn’t there and just in general very impressive.

I have only seen Winner’s One Fine Day and didn’t even know it is a ‘show’.. just thought it is one of their random promotional videos..

Lol.. and here I am still confused between Jaejin and Seung Hyun in FTI! ๐Ÿ˜› Earlier I was always confused between Hoon and Yoon in Winner!

Yeah, it really is quite impressive how they always make such perfect formations!! (I know I have said it before but- So much talent to catch up to, so little time!)

I am feeling a lil unwell today so gonna go get some rest now.. Lets catch-up tomorrow with what you wanted to talk about regarding the concert ๐Ÿ™‚

            0

Yeah it’s a show ๐Ÿ™‚ SHINee’s been on it, and some others who I forget. Because those three are known to be the good ones I think.

          Hahaha ahhh ์ง„์งœ? That’s funny ๐Ÿ˜›
Ahhh those two… I think I’m getting the hang of them though. I seem to be better at recognizing members the more groups I learn ๐Ÿ˜›

Hahaha pace yourself. I’d love for you to learn all about SVT but I’m aware they’re a rather large commitment kekeke

That’s fine! Yeah I think I’m too tired too. Should’ve done it earlier but no matter, tomorrow is just as good haha

Goes to my mental list of things I need to watch (when will I get off my lazy ass, learn from you, and make actual lists!?!)

Yup man! I dunno why! It’s not like they look alike or have similar names but I always get confused!

One day, one fine day! ๐Ÿ˜€

Tomorrow then! ๐Ÿ™‚ (Also, for when you see this- good morning and have a good day)

I remember similar days with people who I can’t imagine not telling apart now so I get you, dw!

          Hahaha

Why thank you! Sorry it’s taken this long to reply… I didn’t really feel like replying to many db things this morning…

I totally relate.. there are just days like that!! I don’t think I will be able to be on DB much today or tomorrow.. going for my Spanish class right now. And it’s raining and I am in one of those ‘don’t do anything’ moods..

I will actually get back to you about the concert btw.. .I just
well I’m in a horrible head space atm… so if there is radio silence from both of us it’s all g ๐Ÿ˜€

            Sure!
I really hope that horrible head space thing goes away soon! *finger hearts and hugs*

Once had two friends make me go watch High School Musical 3 at the cinema (yeah… I know lol) and it was full of high school girls and a couple of them in front of us kept saying stuff like “omg he’s sweating“… 🙄😂 Let’s just say it was annoying/way more entertaining than the movie itself. If it’d been a movie I liked I would’ve been so frustrated though, I feel your pain! And yes… the objectifying tends to get out of hand in kpop o.O

crowds/the noise are the reasons I don’t much care for concerts. Once this drunken woman kept dancing right next to me with a BEER IN HER HAND and let’s just say it was an unstable situation and I just kept worrying about the possibility of having beer all over me rather than enjoying the music lol.

      Ughhhh HSM3… I remember when that came out… O.o
It does and even if I should be used to it by now I still hate it.

That’s funny, cos my favourite concert I’ve been to, Sabaton in Plymouth England, I DID get beer spilt on me… Which was gross but it wasn’t everywhere and ofc I didn’t love the concert because that happened, but it didn’t detract from it either thankfully. Weird, I know, to say that. But there’s a feeling I get, it’s part of why I like travelling, and what I liked about that concert; it wouldn’t have usually been my scene at all, being the only sober one in the building probably, back shoulder to shoulder, on my own, in a tiny night club, and loud music. But it was music I enjoyed, and I was there for the band, not anything else, and that crowd had good vibes. It’s such a hard thing to explain, why one crowd vibe is different to another. Why I enjoyed that crowd better than GD (even though both artists were amazing albeit very different) But there’s this sense of anonymity that I like being in a crowd like I was at Sabaton, or being in streets you don’t know and nobody knows you, or being on a train between a and b and neither is familiar, and you can kind of absorb what you’re there for better…
