I feel your pain. Applying for jobs is the best way to kill your confidence. But, don’t worry! You’ll find a job perfect for you. Fighting!

Mm. It’s definitely tough. It seems like everyone’s hiring, but it’s so hard to score an interview (which is really the best way to make/break your confidence, too). Thank you for the kind words. I truly hope so! Fighting! ✊🏼

I feel you! (Though the number might be a lil higher than 7 in my case :P)

Aw, really? Do you currently have a job?

I’m currently working for my dad, but would really love to get a part-time job in customer service to strengthen that skillset of mine and to get more hands-on experience. Idk what’s wrong with me on paper, but I rarely ever get callbacks from the places I apply to. It’s weird because I’m always positive I’m very much qualified for the position(s) I’m applying to. I also always make sure my resume and cover letters pertain to the job. It’s okay, though. I’ll just keep applying. Gotta hear good news one day!

I don’t. I am thinking of starting giving coaching classes to school kids just as a part time thing.

I dunno why but the market seems in a slump lately.. There are not many jobs, and I rarely get a call back from the places I apply to.. I keep wondering if there is something wrong with me on paper too cuz I literally match every criteria they usually ask for!

But yup… keep applying! There is something out there just for us. For sure!
(You wanted to become an air hostess, right? How is that coming along?)

Oh, that’s cool. That’s right, isn’t that what you’re doing already? (I remember us talking about this, but 1.) you know how awful my memory is, and 2.) I lost that convo of ours! Huhuhu.)

Aw, you too, huh? Yeah, idk what’s going on. The only thing I can think of is that I should probably go outta my way and follow up with the places I apply to, and just make myself known, y’know? Other than that, it sucks that we’re obviously qualified, but they’re not considering us? Boo!

Yes, a flight attendant! It’s… comin’. Heh. Tbh, I’m still not mentally, physically, and financially ready for that lifestyle yet, so I’m currently working on all of that and will get to it soon. That’s why I’d love to get a nice part-time job so I can have extra money to save so I’d have something when I do start actively pursuing the FA career. I’ll definitely update you when I get closer to it, though.

Lol you and your awful memory! I wasn’t.. I was preparing for some govt. service exams and now am awaiting results..

Yeah, I never follow up! I dunno but I just never feel like doing it… Should probably try doing that!

Ooh I really hope you get to do what you want.. Having a dream career is so nice! I don’t think I have one and that is why I am just flailing around thinking of so many different options.. *Hwaiting!*

This is me. Me exactly, when I’m writing up my cover letter (or tweaking my cover letter more than like) I take what they are looking for and type it up and cross it off when I’ve included it and then add some awesomeness on top just so that they know about the awesomeness and then I get that email. What are you looking for, jerks?! Do you want someone who ISNT qualified? Is it because my real name isn’t easily pronounceable (to idiots)? Pah. Bitterness. I’ll be over here typing up a 300 word essay on the power of play in the library.

Lol that is so me!!! I do EXACTLY the same! Taking in their criteria and making sure that I address every bloody single point cuz I have everything and still no call back! And my name is quite easy to pronounce and they still don’t hire me so I guess it’s not the name! It’s them, it’s not us!

            Hahha… essay or rant?

It may have been a mixture of both actually. One of the apps that I filled out today required a 300 word essay on the importance of play in the library AND an additional 300 word essay youths in the library AND a 300 word essay on freedom. So….by the time I got to freedom it could have been part rant dressed up in fancy I am a smart person speak.

My number may be a scootch over 7–but I certainly hear you. It really does super suck. I always check my email first thing in the morning–I sleep with my phone in my hand?–and as I’m waking up, climbing out of bed I open my email app and 6 days out of 7 I wake up to a handful (or 1 or 2) emails saying that “Dear [isa] after carefully examining your resume and qualifications we have decided to pursue other candidates who more fully meet our needs at the moment. Best of luck! Sincerely,”. And then I throw my phone and have properly set the mood for the rest of the day. I have no idea what anyone is looking for!

Aw man, I’m so bummed to hear that, Isa! I feel you, too, though. While it isn’t the end of the world for me when I receive a “Thanks, but no thanks (TBNT),” it does make me wonder exactly what went wrong. Why didn’t I appeal to them? I feel like I should go outta my way more often and after applying for a job, I should follow up with them by introducing myself, because apparently employers appreciate that. I can think of a handful of things I could adjust to make myself a more appealing candidate, I just actually have to carry it out more often. But then again, I oftentimes stratch my head wondering why they wouldn’t at least offer me an interview opportunity… sigh.

If I’m not mistaken, you work at library, right?

Right now I don’t work anywhere–which is why I am so twitchy (I apparently sent one of my friends in a panic last week and I tried to smooth it all over and make her think I was fine (she’s a worrier this one) and ended the email with LETS BURN EVERYTHING!!–its all in good fun, right?!). I believe in the follow up and introducing yourself and stopping by so that when they are pulling up your resume they can attach a face with the name (thats that pleasant young lady who wouldn’t stop talking about Harry Potter and something called K-pop! Lets hire her immediately!) but its hard when the way the application process is set up everything goes to some generic hiring manager–like, who do you call and ask for? And then some places appreciate the follow up phone call and other places really, really do NOT.
