I like the steam cream when it gets really cold. I have oily skin and it does wonders in winter for me. I usually layer it with the aloe propolis gel when I have breakouts. I use the propolis gel in summer in lieu of regular moisturizer sometimes when it’s too hot out and my skin is particularly oily and prone to breaking out.

I love the essence, it’s the only one I use, and it’s great under any of the benton moisturizers. I only use it in winter though.

I’ve only sampled the aloe toner, so I can’t really say whether I like it or not, but I don’t remember having any negative thoughts about it.

I like the masks, they do the trick, but they’re not my absolute favorites (those would be the innisfree ones) but I also tend to keep one or two of them on hand anyway.

One note I’d say about the the Benton line is that it’s quite potent, so if you want to try it, go for it. It definitely helped clear my skin up, but remember to introduce the products slowly into your routine. I accidentally overdid it, and I have really tough skin (or whatever the opposite of sensitive skin is) and it broke me out slightly when I tried too many products at once. Start with the lighter ones like the aloe gel and toner and then essence and then steam cream.

I’m actually asking for a friend who is half Korean—she’s adopted and knows nothing. I’ve heard good things about Innesfree as well. I have relatively good skin but am obsessed with masks lately. Besides for Innesfree, anything else you’d recommend?

Ohh, I’m a mask junkie. I love the Skin Food sesame and black sugar masks (not sheet masks, but great for exfoliation). I also love the carbonated bubble clay mask – it’s more than just gimmicky if you have oily skin, since it really does deep clean. I also have a great volcanic clay mask from bonvivant, and I’m dying to try innisfree’s volcanic clay mask.

My friend gifted me a giant pack of the Dermal sheet masks which I also really like. Same friend also gave me a few of the tea tree Mediheal ones which are nice and hydrating; I also liked their charcoal mask. Tony Moly masks are always good in a pinch – I’ve found the seaweed, rice and aloe ones to be effective. My faves are the innisfree It’s Real masks, because the serum smells amazing, and there’s usually enough left over to use it as a serum overnight for a day or two.

My splurge sheet masks are by Keruna, and I use the clarifying ones when I have a particularly stubborn breakout. I also occasionally treat myself to the Boscia charcoal or green tea sheet masks.

For something a bit more powerful lately I’ve been using The Ordinary’s AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution 1-2 times a week. It’s amazing, but really tingly, so I’d be careful if you have sensitive skin.

Let me know if you have any more questions for your friend about the benton line — I used it when my skin was particularly out of control, but have simplified my routine a lot since my skin finally cleared up. I still keep a lot of the products on hand though, since they were really good and I like them when it gets cold and I need a little something extra. If she wants to try it, I definitely recommend trying the aloe products, since they’re mild and good for all skin types. The snail bee is very potent, so it depends on skin type there.

This was extremely helpful! I already sent her what you wrote earlier and she bought the set from this site! So even though she’s not the least bit interested in kdramas, I may have converted her to kbeauty!

Haha, nice. Yeah, I’m a bit of a skincare junkie after my skin decided to explode and do it’s own thing when I hit 25 or so a few years back. I’m always happy to share my info when I can. Gotta use this knowledge somehow.

I’ve got my routine down to three steps in the morning now, and five in the evening, but I love masks and I do facials at home once a month or so. Actually planning to do one tomorrow if I have time.

Haha, thanks…there may be more in the future. I just organized all my editorial photos, so I definitely have more to share. But I’ll wait for the next withdrawal before I bust them out.

But this does sound perfect for her! She’s in Denver, where the winters are super harsh on her skin and she’s prone to breakouts too! Thanks!

Just tell her to slowly add the Snail-bee line into her routine — one a week maybe, and be patient. Aloe in general is really good for breakouts, and really good in both cold and hot climates, so starting with those is a good way to get her skin prepped.
