WHO said Midnight Runners is funny? Yes, it was funny for maybe a third of its run, but after that it was GUT-WRENCHINGLY heartbreaking!

Oh my god, it was one of the best movies I have seen in many years but I applaud anyone who has been able to sit through it in a theater. I couldn’t. I had to pause it twice and go outside to breathe.

It was beautiful, I thank all the beanies who recommended it, but it was heart-breaking. Perhaps I got too much affected because I didn’t expect it at all.

From the moment that the gang of tugs started hitting and kicking the boys it felt like an awakening call. It suddenly ceased to be funny. I was SCARED! And I think that is exactly what the boys felt and what the movie wanted me to feel. I could feel the two boys’ every heartbeat after that. The scene where the boys practiced and challenged themselves to get stronger was BRILLIANT.

Ok, I think I will take another stroll outside. I need it.

I totally agree with you!! I did say it was funny but I stopped there because I didn’t wanna ruin anything for anyone. The movie did deal with darker themes that were hard to watch. It did venture into the creepy alleys to expose the lives of organ traffickers and all the nasty things they do after kidnapping young girls. It was heart-wrenching to watch those girls in pain, along with our heroes trying their damnedest to rescue them.

But like you said, it was a beautiful movie that was critical of the police force. It allowed our heroes to question their lives (the choices they made) and whether they still wanted to be part of the police. I think what led them to stick with this path was the fact that they cared about those girls in pain. They wanted them rescued.

Yes it was a story about friendship and bromance. Yes, it was hilarious (for the most part). Yet, it was also a story about strength, endurance, passion and determination. It was a story about two young men wanting to get rid of the criminals. It was about them wanting to save people. Not follow the protocols or the higher officers who turned a blind eye to the situation.
