Is PPL really that bad? I thought we’re all just joke-bashing it tbh…

My opinion: PPL is a necessary evil in Dramaland.

Honestly, most of the time it isn’t bad. Sometimes it’s even integrated creatively. But when you see characters meeting at Subway in 5 different dramas airing at the same time… it can get irritating, lol. And amusing.

Subway has got to have the most glaringly obvious & obnoxious PPL ever!!!

It can be. I don’t mind when it’s integrated. I mean people have to eat, but there are times where it’s too in your face or just doesn’t make sense. For example, there was Subway PPL in Prime Minister and I, but it was for the female lead to get back at all the uppity politicians’ wives by arranging their monthly meeting at a Subway instead of their usual high-end restaurant, so that made sense. While in WYWS, the leads would invite each other to lunch, but then awkward hold and expound the wonders of Subway. It was just odd.

It can be annoying if done without creativity.
I loved it in Secret Forest.
    The lipstick 💄 👌
I also don’t mind when they send someone from the office to pick up subway or Quiznos and then they are puzzled while ordering.
Also if Junho is doing it it’s never wrong.
    Junho and Papa Johns 👏
    Junho and Melona👏👏

“if Junho is doing it, it’s never wrong” -no truer words

And it must be noted that Junho eating the PPL product just takes it to a whole other level. He just can’t be sitting at the place or holding the product or just looking at it. He has to be eating.

👏👏 Yes of course that’s where the true impact and magic comes from.
Mmm hold on he’s also pretty good at sipping and drinking.

Honestly, Subway, and whatever that bottled water is that is in every drama, are such staples that when they aren’t there I kind of miss them. And now that massage chair has become a new favorite of mine, and I’m wondering when it will show up in the construction trailer in Just Between Lovers.

It actually amuses me how dramas make use of PPL. When there are over the top ones like that in 20th Century Boy and Girl, I just laugh at it. 😂

I should also say that I rather have all the PPL in the world than 1 commercial.

The only time it irritates me is when we get a totally random scene with the lead giving a complete commentary on the merits and use instructions of a digital camera or a fridge or something like that. If they just use the thing or zoom on it or whatever else I don’t mind at all.

oh, I remember one just like that!! “20th Century Boy & Girl” when a fan wanted to take a pic with the main girl and went on and on with a random explanation of his phone !

I really don’t mind PPL. I react when they’re too obvious (a few “oooh!” and some “aigoooo~”s XD) but overall, I’m just amused with the blatant PPL. Heeh,
