Well, if you want to scare the shit out of someone send this early warning message: “Ballistic missile threat inbound to Hawaii. Seek immediate shelter. This is not a drill.” Thank god it was only human error and not the real deal. The threat we face from NK is no joke, no wonder it sent everyone into a panic in Hawaii. scary shit, but what made it hilarious for me was how in a Finnish newspaper this story was reported under the line for an article about wild boars swiftly dodging hunters & distinguishing between and attacking their cars. They have huge pictures of the boar and then a line below in tiny letters: ” Meanwhile in the World: false missile alarm causes Hawaii to take cover.”
I have friends stationed there and her FB post after the fact was heart-wrenching to say the least. She just went to her kids’ bedrooms and told them she wouldn’t be going into work and just laid there with them talking about whatever they wanted, with the realization that this would be the last time she would ever be able to do so—I couldn’t even imagine.
