Hwayugi is becoming weirdly tedious to watch. It should be right up my alley, instead I skip a lot. I feel like characters often state the obvious so everyone gets some airtime.

Show is starting to annoy me, seriously.

My sentiments exactly. I’m a fantasy girl and this is a much harder watch than I was expecting. Tedious is the perfect word to describe it.

I stopped after ep 6 or 7 because of that…I told myself I’d later catch up before the ending, but haven’t seen anymore eps and don’t really feel the need to. It’s a shame, I love CSW and was super excited to see him in a drama again

I watched the first couple of episodes of Greates Love recently, guess I’ll continue that rewatch instead of watching Hwayugi!

fiiiinally, someone else who feels like me !!
I have semi-given up on it. I was hoping to get caught up in the week-by-week anticipation but there is something missing and I’m seriously unable to stay interested or hooked !!!
It annoys me a lot, because every time I see the recaps on Dramabeans, I feel like I’m missing out (serious FOMO here) but when I eventually watch the episode(s), I find myself distracted ! What’s worst is that I really like most of the characters, but can’t get past that something missing

    any remedy?

It’s the chemistry and how Oh Yeon Seo is interpreting this lead I think. I don’t like it at all. I love Lee El, Lee Se Young, and Lee Seong Gi though. I also find the writing/subs falling flat. I think it would be better if I actually was fluent in Korean. But alas, if the acting doesn’t cut it, I can’t fall back on the the writing.

you’re right. it’s all her. Oh Yeon Seo. or maybe it’s HOW her character was written. I dunno. either way, I reeeeaally don’t feel the OTP chemistry.
Not only that but, really, let’s be real, what has that umbrella EVER really done?? Because it seems to me that most ghosts she’s encountered in her adulthood just swatted the miserable thing and kept bullying her … until Monkey came to save her… for the umpteenth time … (major eyeroll).

I think I just don’t like damsels in distress who seem clueless about how often they JUMP into said distress…

Glad we’re seeing eye to eye on this one!

Yeah I’m not a fan of Seon Mi’s character. I liked her in the beginning but eh… or maybe I’m just really done with “but does he really love me” JUST TAKE OFF THE GEUMGANGGO THEN jeez
they just keep going in circles with that romance and I don’t really care about them

I care more about BUja and PK’s platonic skinship.

So, I can’t stop watching, I need to see if that platonic relationship becomes something more! Lol!
