Is it me or does anyone else find it strange how little screen time Oh Yeon Seo has behind the scenes?

I mean if I was someone who just watched the BTS, I wouldn’t even know that she was the main female lead. Every BTS that I have watched of Hwayugi where there is a scene that I know she is definitely in, she is either:

1) nowhere to be seen
2) in the distance where you have to squint your eyes to see her
3) has half of her face hidden by a staff/a camera/some inanimate object that apparently has more camera time than her

Does the PD have something against her or what? Did she do something wrong? I just don’t get it.

You’re right, I hadn’t thought about it, but it is totally true.

There was a promotional video I saw where LSG, CSW, and OYS were supposed to take turns complimenting her, and I believe LSG said something about her being the most diligent and respectable actor he’s had as a leading lady. Maybe the PD doesn’t have anything against her so much as she is an intentionally private person? (Unlike LSG, who’s doing this big army comeback)

I don’t know. It’s just too strange. Kim Ji Won is known to be a private person and you see her in the bts of her dramas. It just doesn’t make sense to me. Even if Oh Yeon Seo was a private person, I doubt she has higher power than the PD to request not to show her in the videos. Surely she would want more exposure as an actress so that people can praise her acting skills and work ethic on and off screen. I heard a lot of viewers/netizens have been posting negative comments about her but that still doesn’t explain her lack of screen time bts to me. Things just don’t add up.

Ah, I understand. I don’t usually watch BTS, so I’m not aware of that. I’ve heard netizens have been bashing her acting, in both this and her previous drama My Sassy Girl. I think she does a great job as Sun Mi, (I haven’t seen her in anything else), and don’t understand the hate. It seems counterintuitive with all the love LSG is getting here ~

Yeah I heard that too. A lot have said her portrayal of Sun Mi is too bland but like you, I think she’s nailed the character perfectly. I mean for someone who has witnessed and dealt with monsters/demons all her life, it’s not surprising that she’s not always acting shocked and screaming. She’s also lived a life of loneliness so I don’t know how people expect her to act all warm and welcoming to immortals when she’s probably completely worried about being left alone again. I guess the fan base for any “oppa” is going to be stronger which just makes this lack of Oh Yeon Seo in BTS seem even more unfair.

Precisely! The way we see her hide her emotions, smiling to herself, and keeping a calm veneer over her need for love and companionship is so well done! She’s been taking care of herself for so long, and has such bad trust issues, ones that specifically involve the monsters she’s working with now.

The negative comments frustrate me a lot as well…

I also haven’t seen her in anything else but it’s just been so odd watching these BTS and reading all those negative things about Oh Yeon Seo that got me a bit annoyed and I feel so bad for her. She seems like a hard working and talented actress.

after tonight’s episode, if people still say Oh Yeon Seo’s acting is bad, I’m just going to flip tables because her subtle change in character, from Sun Mi to Ah Sa Nyeo was just on point. Her acting is diverse and she has such a good grasp of what her character is suppose to be. If people can’t see that, they must not be watching the same drama.
