I finished Moon Embracing the Sun. So many people died in the first half of the last ep, including one of my favorite characters 😭😭😭 The last half was very sweet though and wrapped up the surviving characters’ arcs nicely.
Also, I kept worrying that I would mashup this title and Moonlight Drawn by Clouds and accidentally call it Moon Embracing the Clouds 😂

Moon embracing the Sun! I haven’t seen it yet but it’s always been on my list! If you wouldn’t mind me asking, out of 10, how many stars would you give it?

I would give it 7 out of 10. The childhood part (first six episodes) was great. It was cute and funny and then horribly tragic in a way that was logical. I hate when stories have tragedies that could be easily avoided (like this one did in ep 20). I was actually tearing up towards the end of the childhood part and I never cry during dramas but Yeo Jingoo and Kim Yoo Jung did a fantastic job with their characters and the story was very well done.
The middle part dragged a LOT. Everyone kind of thinks this one person is someone they knew before but no one can confirm it and that lasts for about eight (?) episodes.
Finally the identity thing is cleared up and the story starts moving again.
It had some sweet moments between the main couple but, this was the era of the “kiss-and-freeze”, so don’t expect much there.
There was a very stupid noble idiot sacrifice at the end that I hated especially because it was completely unnecessary and could have been avoided so easily.
It wasn’t as beautifully shot as more recent dramas like Moonlight Drawn by Clouds or Queen for Seven Days.
For the most part, I enjoyed it and would recommend it.

Thank you for this detailed explanation! I think I’ll keep this on the back burner for now. I don’t think I am ready for anything that is horribly tragic at the moment, LOL. Appreciate your intake ❤ Thanks!

You don’t want to know how many times I’ve tried you watch this—at least half a dozen. Too much death, too overly dramatic, I’ve not even gotten to Yeo Jin goo’s scenes! Lol!

The first half hour was really hard to watch. If I were to watch it again, I would skip all that and get straight to the cute puppy love part.
