Repository of unpopular opinions:
What opinion on a much-loved drama do you have that upsets people? Do you try to be diplomatic or not care if people disagree?
I’m not sure if it’s a widely loved drama, but everyone in DB was going absolutely crazy for the liar and his lover, and when I started it I was SO confused about why! I kept telling myself that maybe it’d pick up on the next episode…maybe on the next…maybe next one…? Until I gave up on ep 5, I think. To this day, I really don’t get why and how it was so popular!
Hwayugi was another I dropped because I couldn’t deal with it anymore, and people who followed it seemed to really like it (besides the ending, that is)
Ditto on Liar and His Lover. I thought I was missing something, but then I realized I wasn’t. 🙃
I rarely love the really popular dramas with Because This Life Is Our First and Just Between Lovers as probable exceptions. I would say Hwayugi was really polarizing.
There is alot of drama like that. But maybe. It’s because I’m no longer at the age of fangirling actor or actress blindly without being critical. I always envy people who is still enjoying stuff fav actor and easy to please. Because I’ve been there.
When I don’t care for a drama I tend to just forget about it. So I don’t care enough to even talk to people about it, to be honest. I’ll express my opinions when I’m still watching the show and debating whether or not to drop, but after it’s been dropped I wipe my hands clean of it and just don’t care about it anymore.
Not really. There are things I personally don’t like in dramas and will almost definitely drop them because of it (complete jerk male leads in romance dramas, for example) but I recognize that other people like the shows for valid reasons.
Spending too much time dwelling on dramas I don’t like just makes the hobby kind of draining and miserable for me. I understand some people like to debate every little thing about every drama, but personally that doesn’t bring me any joy.
That’s not to say I don’t like discussing dramas, of course. I love that. That’s why I’m here! I even like dissecting the shows I like, as long as whoever I’m discussing it with isn’t just bashing it. I’ll freely admit the flaws of my favorite shows and talk about them with other fans, but I find the most satisfaction in talking about the things I love.
But if I don’t like a drama, I just feel no desire to talk about it most of the time.
***whispers*** I found Shopping King Louie kind of irritating. The manboy trope, combined with naive mountain girl trope left me cold.
If you love it, great. We all have our likes and dislikes, and when it comes to this one, I stay out of the discussion because I don’t have anything of value to add. I don’t really understand expending tons (or even some) energy on something as inconsequential as a drama you don’t like. Move on, find something better, and let those that do like said drama (or actor, or whatever) have their fun.
Yeah I didn’t like Shopping King Louie either. I was carried through the first half by the acting of both leads but after that it fell really flat for me. Nothing offensively bad about it, it just didn’t really grip me.
Maybe we never learn our lesson. when I watch something bad but I just can’t quit due to other factor. Maybe the plot is so bad it’s so addicting to watch and to make fun of. Maybe we force to watch it because our Fav take the project. Or our relatices or friend force us to watch it along with them. And because the negative experience whrn you watch it It’s your mind, and we need to vent this frustation and don’t want to hold it so we end up critics something we hate and spent 1000 words of essay That feeling…. Lol

Marriage Not Dating and My Name Is Kim Sam Soon are both toxic trash and I hate them.
Would I care if they disagree? I mean…

I was a bit like that with Jugglers. I kept watching it because I was hoping to work out what other people were seeing in it. I never did.

Heh. I dropped Jugglers after ep. 8 because I was so turned off by that aggressive wrist grab/awkward kiss. Yech.

Yeah I dropped it when I realised I was hoping the main OTP from a romance drama would NOT get together.

Blood. So bad, but I watched it to the grueling end out of sheer fascination at the badness.
