I thought this would be a sweet little movie about a girl settling down in her new home after marriage, but wow, didn’t expect there would be so many tears and heartbreak along with art, paintings and the mundane everyday picture of joy and laughter. I don’t think any movie has ever portrayed the horror of war in such a sensitive way, it was poetic, had so many metaphors within the paintings and at the same time melancholic. I felt Suzu’s pain, but the pain of losing your loved ones and family in war is still unfathomable. But the ending still gives hope and I loved the fact that to Suzaku, Suzu was still the same that she was to him when he first met her. Highly recommend this odd little piece of art. #In this corner of the world

I watched this film a couple of weeks ago. I like how it showed us the little details of daily life in addition to the horrors (both explicit and implicit) of war.

I watched this on a plane and loved it so much I watched it again when it came to the theatres (even though I knew I had to see the horror happen all over again). Like Peridot mentioned, it had a great slice-of-life take on the trauma and hardships of wartime Japan.
