Just now finished epi3 of Pretty Noona… and i can say this would be last epi of this drama for me (as i am really not sure if i bought the reason how actually Jin Ah fell in love or like for Joon Hee… so till i figure it out i can’t go ahead)
but yes i love cinematography in this drama. it must be done by one damn intelligent DOP..how well he positioned the camera to make this simple rooftop scene interesting my having reflection on the glass wall…. and there are many more such interesting compositions.

      i know everyone is loving it and so did i till epi 2 and was so curious to know how story will unfold next…. till the mid i was ok and good with the flow but by then end i just couldn’t get it… still i get it why Jin Ah did what she did but again i cant go ahead with the in the direction…
      but yes if you watch and can help me in understanding Jin Ah better may be i can start it again. do let me know what your thoughts are…

        Episode 3 sold me on this relationship. He’s so sweet to her. I had a crush on a younger guy in college, and all the way through 1st year med school, so I get how she could start liking him. His smile is so swoony and he smiles constantly when he looks at her directly. I do think they had a past though. I’m sure he tried asking her out when he was a teenager probably. And he was probably a really cute kid, so there was probably some degree of affection already there. She’s tired of being mistreated and she holds most of the power right now in this relationship, so that’s liberating in and of itself. I think she just wants to be in control of something for once and he’s allowing that to happen. They are so comfortable and easy going together, until that sexual tension between them started in episode 3, and then something has got to give, and her making the first move was perfect. While he was digging his grave, she slowly and deliberately took his hand, signaling to him that she knew what he longed for, and she had to, because Ms. Co-manager was going to quicken her own game. The attraction (more on his end—but hers too) was palpable this episode, and I think I would have needed a cold shower if some of that wasn’t addressed. The “timing” was perfect. I did an essay on “first physical touch” in kdramas and how that’s what draws me to them. The tension prior and then the steam release that happens when it finally occurs is catnip to me (and yes, I realize what this metaphor describes). And that hiccup at the end! Omg, I was dying. That sealed the deal for me.

          thats very nice analysis and very well written.
          but again i am not yet on linking term with this show just for the sake of how JA is falling for JH in span of one episode. She did read all his signals and caw his advancements, she is liking to be in power in their dynamics… but i still see (or may be i saw wrongly) her as one strong character who knows what she wants and how to get it. but being emotional and giving in that moment cause she thought other female manager a threat.. is clearly not my type of female lead.
          again its all my perspective how i see this drama and leads. I love son ye jin just that JA does not resonate with me much…

            I disagree about how strong her female character is. I do think she’s competent in her work, but she’s very insecure in her personal life. She’s 35 and not married and bears the burden of being an outcast in her family and community. This has taken a toll on her. And, she is still an emotional wreck from being two-timed. So, again, if a really cute younger guy is going to give her the time of day, and she knows another girl is vying for that attention, she’s going to be selfish and want him for herself and herself alone. She desperately needs that attention. Is it love on her end? Not this early, but she knows if she doesn’t do something, someone else will. There’s something there, but it’s rrally just attraction at this point, not love. I also think that his 3 years away may also have changed their dynamic a bit. He could have matured and gotten way hotter while he was gone—this show isn’t giving us clues yet. I’m remembering what beanies said about Lee Seung Gi when he got back for his 3 year army stint, how they saw him more mature and attractive in Hwayugi than prior. So, maybe there’s that too. I don’t really know why, but I believe it.

            i certainly respect your opinion and perspective with which you are watching this drama. and in no way i wanted to say this drama has anything wrong or bad.

            but at same time i am watching it with my perspective which is not same as yours. i can’t relate to a girl falling for a boy just for the matter he has swoony smile, is treating her good, letting her hv final say or be in command (for past few days) and moreover seeing another girl ready attack him she steps up her game and being desperate..
            sorry but i feel she is just using her heart without letting her brain think about repercussion of it.
            and yes i know i am in minority of not liking this drama *so far* and still on my opinion that i cant resonate Jin Ah and her choice *so far*
            so i guess we have to be on terms to agree to disagree….

            Thanks for the discussion. I did want to clarify some thoughts I had while whatching this because I do think that her turnaround to liking him was abrupt, to say the least, but when you actually asked the question, it made me think about how the director or writer might be seeing it as well as those who really do like this drama. I think it helped me like this drama more just by defending that stance.

    I totally understand because the transition from friends or whatever they were before to lovers is still a process?(not sure if I’m using the right word).
    It’s almost a taboo relationship because they were almost as family.
    For him maybe it’s attraction. For her it’s the way he makes her feel.

    I do trust this PD to know how to handle it properly like his past work.

      yes that’s the word.. that was surely missing and i couldn’t connect with the knee jerk kind of sudden change in their dynamic. i am still apprehensive to give more of my hours to it to get disappointed in the end. still ill follow you all beanies to see if it improves for good and then give a chance again. and thanks for your inputs.

        I do love the show to pieces already and I hope that what is going on between them were old feelings that were being suppressed in the past.
        They kept talking about timing so it makes me wonder.

        The lighting is amazing in this. I feel like I’m watching everything through rose-colored glasses (kind of like Joon-hee). Like my hubby says though, give it about 16 years, they’ll come off! I’m watching this on my tv, so not sreencapping anything. But I keep thinking, wow, that would be a pretty picture.

          This is PD Ahn’s specialty. His dramas are a work of art.
          He did the lighting in a short film with his fellow college graduates as his first job (32 yrs ago).
          He seems to have perfected his skills and he is pretty much 2 second to none imo.
          I just wonder why it took him so long to make a full romance drama.

            He is also the head guy of Drama House (his production company) so he has full control of what goes on behind the set and directing.
            He is well respected so jTBC executives don’t interfere with his work.
