Please help out a beanie. I’m watching 1% of anything v.2, and I do not understand at all! I’ve checked the recaps too but I guess I’m too dense… IS marrying Jae-In a condition in the will or isn’t it? I can’t understand what these people are arguing about! If it is not, and Da-hyun is the heiress no matter what, and Jae-in and his lawyer friend lied to her about having to marry him, then what is that six-months-dating deal with the grandpa supposed to mean? On the other hand, if it has been a condition from the beginning then why is Tae-ha considered a contender, and why did they talk about her being surrounded with gold-digger suitors and grandpa not caring who she marrys? I DO NOT UNDERSTAND! And when I don’t understand I can’t root for anybody….

If I remember correctly, the will states that either of the cousins need to marry DH to become the heir. Initially JI refused saying that he’s not interested his grandpa’s wealth. But his lawyer friend convinced him saying that his dad’s mall is also included in the property. So JI goes to DH with the proposal and she understandably refuses. When JI meets grandpa, he says that he can’t marry her. Then grandpa says if he won’t marry her, TH will and he doesn’t care who marries DH. JI got the first chance because he’s the older one. Then JI agrees to date her seriously for 6 months and grandpa agrees. He goes to DH with the renewed will, but omits the fact that TH is a contender too. They agree to date each other, with the agreement that he’ll get the property without marrying her and he’ll fulfill whatever conditions she has, like proper facilities for her school and helping to launch her favourite idol. Hope this clears your confusion.

Well, unfortunately no. Then what happens if DH doesn’t marry either of them? JI tells her she will become a miserable heiress with men chasing her and lots of rich people problems. So SHE doesn’t need to marry one of them to get the money, she will get it no matter what. Then why should she go about all the deal-making and dating? Why should she care if he gets any money or not? She says your grandfather gave me his money and gave you as a free sample…. No, I still don’t understand the clear conditions of the will.

Ok LOL! didn’t think about it so much. I think she doesn’t need to marry either of them, that’s true, but one of them needs to marry her if they want the property. But I think she tells JI that she doesn’t want all the money and all the hassle that comes with it. So I guess he tells her that if she dates him, he’ll remove the clause of her inheriting the property. Sounds stupid I know, I mean who wouldn’t want all that money. But she’s a simple girl and doesn’t need all that. I’m sorry I don’t remember more clearly. Anyway the story stops focusing on the will and more on their relationship. It just became a plot device for them to get together so probably that’s why I don’t remember clearly.

LOL yeah I think I should stop thinking about it and focus on the relationship too. The first two episodes were all arguing about the will and it got me badly confused. Third episode dating started and I guess I can stop thinking now 😁😁

Yes stop thinking about the will and enjoy. The trajectory of this couple is satisfactory compared to many others.

The original agreement if I remember correctly. She inherits no matter what. The cousins inherit only if they seriously date/marry her.

Lol, this is giving me a good laugh. I watched the original (which had way more forced machinations to give them a reason to date) so the remake seemed almost obvious in comparison. But when I think about it, you are right, she doesn’t seem to have too much reason to go along with the plan. But my understanding was this:
Grandpa named her heir (because he wanted her in the family, and felt she could handle the money if it did go just to her).
His ‘natural heirs’ who were expecting the money could still get it if they could woo her. (kinda grandpa trusting that Jae-in could choose the better man)
Da-hyun felt that it was wrong to make a claim on the inheritance at all, because there were already family members to succeed grandpa.
But, grandpa had already drawn up complicated paperwork that left all his assets to her. Da-hyun did not have an easy way to cancel this paperwork, or much legal know-how, so she tried to make a deal with grandpa.
Grandpa offered marriage to his grandsons as the easy out because then the inheritance is shared with the man she marries.
Da-hyun turned down marrying a stranger just to avoid a weird legal battle, and asked for a more reasonable deal.
Grandpa offered 6-months dating one of the guys, and she accepted this. Why she decided this was okay, I don’t know, but it gives the leads a reason to date, so it is determined as 100% mandatory by the drama.

Hahaha thank you for elaborating. And you are right. Ultimately what really matters is the dramaland reason to date not the logical one! Lol
