He’s too cute! wish I could see this but I don’t have patience for 20 eps let alone 50 eps.

      He is! ^^
I was not planning to watch the show because I was already spoiled of the ending and it’s 50-episode long but I miss JCW. I’m enjoying the show so far, and it’s so pretty.

😂 I just hope you don’t turn the tables and lament about how long 50 eps really is. JCW’s pouty face and Sunyang’s fire will keep drawing you in. 🤞

I doubt that will happen. Like I said above the show is so pretty I could watch it for its cinematography & production design alone! Plus I’m such a sucker for revenge/romance genre, and I love JCW to bits. 😍 Oh, and the drama has strong female characters, I love it! So no worries… 😉

The expansive shots of the palace from above and the costuming were gorgeous. I didn’t mind if it was historically inaccurate because I was feasting my eyes (JCW too! 💖) There’s plenty of romance and revenge (heee let the manipulation continue) to enjoy and Empress Ki is one of the strongest characters I’ve seen so far in any drama (she’s physically, artistically and mentally skilled, it’s like the talent trifecta).

Day & night shots of Palace are so gorgeous, beautufully lit and full of bright colors. Most sageuks are not accurate anyway, historically speaking. I’ll just enjoy the romance and beauty parts of the show. I got bored of the battle scenes between Batulo & Wang Yu though, but I liked that Batulo is a woman. They will meet again in future episodes, right?
Did you watch The King 2 Hearts? Her character in the drama is similar to her character in EK. Sageuks suit her really well, I didn’t really like in rom/com.

Yes that’s what I ended up enjoying too! I fastforwarded Batulo’s fighting scenes because it dragged for so long- she did not look like a Turk at all but she does appear in the future. Wang Yu’s intelligence was pointed out so I guess the point of it all was to show his leadership and deduction skills. No I haven’t watched King 2 Hearts. I was introduced to Han Ji Won in Secret Garden and then The Time We Were Not In Love (which was ok but not incredible) so seeing her in Empress Ki where she shined was amazing.

@fencejumper Check out K2H if you have time, it’s really worth watching. I couldn’t finish TTWWNIL, badly written show. Such a shame because In Time With You is one of my favorite non kdramas.
