Can we collectively agree to finally retire the term “womance”? How do you all feel about “girlship” instead? (Any other suggestions?)

    Womance does sound weird.
Girlship is cute. Or maybe sisterhood (or is it too long? Less catchy?)

Womance is unnecessary. Where did that phrase come from? Is it supposed to be a response to bromance? Which would be interesting because bromance was coined to name the closeness between men that’s similar to female best friends.
I like gal pals but probably use bestie more irl. Sisterhood always paints a positive picture in my mind. I love the image of women supporting and building each other up.

@gadis I like sisterhood! But you’re right, it does lack some of the catchiness of bromance.

@dramalava Yeah, it’s an unfortunate attempt to find a female equivalent to bromance. It’s interesting to think of that origin for bromance when now it’s by far a more popular (and buzzy) dynamic in dramas than great female friendships. You’re right, bestie is more practical, but it’s also not gender-specific, so it doesn’t have the special status that bromance has somehow gained.
