For me,it has its own story but the lead guy, picture shown in Mango’s post, keeps mentioning the name of the lead in Hana Yori Dango (aka HaNaDan) as he idolizes that guy. Also,it looks like this plot will loosely follow HaNaDan’s.
Also,it’s sort of a guessing game each episode, which character from HaNaDan will cameo.
It might be ok to watch this solely without seeing HaNaDan.
Having watched the first one is a doubled edge sword – you might compare it to the 1st and not enjoy it or you might anticipate how things will turn out here as compared to HaNaDan.
You can still watch it because it has its own story. You will only references to people and places from HanaDan but that’s not important to the plot.
If you watch Hana Nochi Hare right after HanaDan, you might end up comparing them since everything will still be fresh. Personally, I feel nostalgic watching the sequel because HanaDan was the second drama I watched.
Thank you for replying, both of you! I’ll try to watch the new one first and get back to the original one. I haven’t watch Japanese drama for years. It’s gonna be hard to watch one again.
Why is he such a cute puppy? Every time I see him I want to protect this cinnamon roll.
I really thought I grew from boys over flowers but I love this show so much. And Haruto. And his obsession with Domyouji. And weird lucky stuff he gets by online shopping. And tasting new food (I am still dissapointed there was not this “Yum” moment in episode three)
I only watched HanaDan and I thought I wouldn’t enjoy Hana Nochi as much and I’m glad I was wrong ! Haruto is a puppy that doesn’t deserve a broken heart. His hilarious hobbys just make him more lovable and human as other main leads of HanaDan/BOF/Meteor Garden.

Thank you! I haven’t watched the original one. Should I watch that first before I watch this?
