I got Dr Thorn by Anthony Trollope from a recent Audible sale, and it’s absolutely delightful. This is my first Trollope, but I am definitely reading more of his books after this. The squire’s son falls in love with the doctor’s niece, and hijinks ensue.

Why am I posting this here? Because after listening to Dr Thorn all day, I came home and watched Pretty Noona. And was boggled at how similar the mothers were in both works. Lady Arabella disapproves of her son’s lady love for all the same reasons Jin-ah’s mother disapproves of Joon-hee: lack of money, disgraceful family connections. And she tries to seperate them using all the same tactics and arguments. It was uncanny.

Half a world and 150 years apart, and people are still people.

You would love the series. I might have to do a rewatch. It’s been ages since I originally saw this.

It’s one of those shows where you wish they would have just kept going with the series, even if the books ended, the actors were so good.
