Kim Jung Min (김정민): “Dream” from MARRY ME NOW / SHALL WE LIVE TOGETHER OST reminds me of this classic from the Broadway musical & film, THE MUSIC MAN.

I remember seeing this film in the theater when I was a kid. This pair of songs is my favorite number in a show filled to the gunwales with gorgeous, memorable music. I worked on stage crew for my high school’s student productions of THE MUSIC MAN and SOUTH PACIFIC, and the faculty production of THE BOYFRIEND.

Launched in 1947 in Buffalo, NY, the Buffalo Bills won the 1950 title of International Quartet Champions of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA). They sang on US military bases in Europe, Japan, and Korea in 1951. Later, Meredith Wilson, composer of THE MUSIC MAN, invited them to audition for the Broadway production. The one-year gig ran several years longer, and was followed by the film version in 1962, in which the quartet also appeared.
