There’s no way I’m watching that long a drama from that writer, no matter how interested in the cast I am *always gets sucked into her dramas bc of cast and always regrets it lol*
@midnight She really does! Always somehow managing to get all the big names. I would never have watched Goblin if not for the fact that I loved like pretty much every actor and actress in that show lol.
Tbh while I probably would say no if I were an actor and offered a part in her drama, I do get why they say yes. Every single one of the shows become hits, because she knows exactly how to manipulate her target audience.
I found Goblin a solid show, but waaaaaay to indulgent in the angst and lingering melancholy shots. I had other problems with it too story-wise. DOTS was an easy popcorn watch for me, but I didn’t like it nearly as much as everyone else did, it was just all right. I’m interested in Mr. Sunshine but I don’t think I’ll be madly in love with it, and if there are 24 episodes and tvN decides to make them all 90 minutes or more idk if I’ll have the patience to stick around for that. :/
In addition to all you said, I had a problem with the execution, characterization and oi, that editing. I had never seen soooo many fashbacks, sometimes even a flashback of the same thing that happened a minute ago. I’m also still quite miffed that it made Gong Yoo seem like he’s overacting in some scenes, particularly the “funny” ones
I was misled by the awesome trailer and the rich premise. Which I’m wary of because Mr. Sunshine also has the awesome trailer ✔ and the rich premise ✔ 😐
Agree! Characterization of Kim Go-eun’s character definitely fell flat for me, I disliked how her character didn’t seem to have much purpose in the latter half of the show. And yes, too many flashbacks. I don’t even like flashbacks in general. I didn’t have a problem with the acting in Goblin, but the humor I did like usually fell to Lee Dong-wook and Yook Sungjae’s characters.
Well – if it’s released the same day as the broadcast that means it’ll (hopefully) get recapped by DB. I’m looking forward to the premise and the plethora of material the writer has to work with. Don’t care about the main male lead but will watch it for everything else

Netflix will broadcast Mr Sunshine, exclusively. That doesn’t surprise me.
Good news: it will release episode same day as it is broadcast in Korea.
Skeptical: 24 episodes under that popular writer

Yeah. Um. 24. I barely survived DOTS at 16. … Make the most of your historical material writer-nim!
Still, can’t wait!

And with tvN, each episode will be 2 hours long
Same. I want to see history and all its glory brought to life in epic fashion.

For the US that usually means after the drama has aired. Hell, we still haven’t gotten Hwayugi. Ugh, sucks.

From the article I read on Variety, it will air same day for US and some Asian countries with Netflix. Don’t know about Europe though.
Hwayugi was bought by Viki in the US. So it will not show up on US Netflix for now.
