Still puzzling over why Mom thinks her older son is sensitive to cold, when it’s Young-joon. Was the sweater the only way she could tell them apart back then? Really? They could switch and fool her?

The child SY was kidnapped. The man LYJ has the scars and the nightmares. The man SY has neither.
The child SY was sensitive to cold. The man LYJ is sensitive to cold. The man SY is not.
The child YJ was put in 4th grade with SY. Both men say the other brother was the bully.
The man SY says YJ kept him from inheriting the company. He thinks he has something to forgive. He likes to taunt YJ and threaten to take away what is precious to him. The man YJ despises him.
The child SY was angry with YJ after the kidnapping, until YJ fainted and lost his memories.
Mom really thinks it was SY who walked by himself to the police station after the kidnapping.
What does it all add up to? If only YJ wasn’t the super smart one, I would think he was the real SY, and SY was the real younger brother. But how can you fake being super smart?

Nah, mom knows, she’s just playing along for some reason…I think maybe hyung was so shocked about his brother getting kidnapped he lost his memories and it all somehow turned around thanks to YJ pretending to forget what happened.

I’m thinking it may have been a little more sinister. I’m thinking SY traded places with his brother right before the kidnapping, sweater and all, and went home pretending to be YJ. YJ went through it — why he went along with pretending to be SY, I don’t know. He came home and was really angry with “YJ”, until finally “YJ” pretended to faint and forget everything so they could switch back. But how could Mom not know they had switched places? And how did that affect who got to work at the company? Too confusing. I hope we get a satisfying answer.

Mom would never confuse them…she’s their mom. They could even be twins and still mom would surely be able to tell them apart.

Then maybe she had a reason to play along?

She knows the whole truth but she plays along because it was the only way their family could go back to relatively normal. I mean back then one son was traumatised by the kidnapping and other was so riddled with guilt and broke down that they considered putting him a mental hospital. So when young Young Joon pretended to forget everything it was a blessing for their parents. Though it’s really questionable from a morel point of view what if it was right to go along with that.

Yes, you’re right. She knows who is who. The conversation that she had with Secretary Kim is written very cleverly. She starts out clearly talking about SY, who was kidnapped. But then she stops using his name and just says, “He, he, he.” But the boy she is referring to as he is the one who gets cold, who had the sky blue shirt and designer sweater, and who went missing for three days — but did not get kidnapped. The boy who was cowering in the corner was SY. The boy who gave her a caramel and took her home was YJ. SY went straight to the police station. YJ took Mi-so home. And Mom knows the rest of the story.

The older brother wasn’t kidnapped at all, he was the one who left young YJ there in a redevelopment area and thus was responsible for YJ’s kidnapping.

For that to be true, everyone has to be lying. Mom has to be lying to SY, SY has to be lying to everyone, and YJ has to be lying to MS.

The simpler scenario is that they are all telling the truth. SY was kidnapped. He does have a nightmare of the same place in one of the earlier episodes. But it’s obvious that he didn’t suffer much or long, that he hurt others to save himself, and that he walked out of there alone.
