Mr. Sunshine Quibble/Spoiler:

Lee Byeong-heon is fourteen years older than Yoo Yeon-seok. By why is the latter’s childhood counterpart played by an actor obviously older than the lead’s childhood counterpart? I couldn’t suspend my disbelief. This doesn’t make sense.

That looked so weird. I wonder why they disregarded their actual ages and looks. In no way does YYS look older. Plus the episode overall wasn’t that gripping very unlike of KES’ s dramas first episodes .

Not to mention the very stereotypical portrayal of Americans, lol. I have no problem with showing racism that existed at that time towards East Asians, but why does almost every single American seem to behave the same way (and Westerners in generals in Kim Eun-sook’s dramas)?

I hope that things improve from the second episode. I agree that something was missing from the premiere.

True that. But I guess my criticism is a general one when it comes to the portrayal of Westerners.

I’m not sure whether it has been explained or not but YYS storyline is not yet covered in episode 1 (that includes his story as a child if it will ever be told).

That kid is the child counterpart of Seung-Goo, played by Choi Moo-Sung (Reply 1988, Prison Playbook).

Another supporting evidence is the Park Hyo Sin OST MV shown the first encounter between YYS and KTR. I think that’s the actual child version of YYS.

That’s if the asianwiki and the subs I referred to are correct.

Yes, I just watched ep. 2 and we were wrong to think the teenage boy was YYS’s character. @peridot. He was the counterpart to the shooting sabu, who is older than Eugene. So the casting was ok after all.

Yes, I did notice this. But I remember checking Asianwiki. The actor credited as the younger counterpart of Yoo Yeon-seok’s character was born in 2002, while the childhood counterpart of Lee Byeong-heon’s character was born in 2009. And the actor credited as Yoo Yeo-seok’s father is the same actor who was shot in front of his teenage son. Maybe the information is just wrong. I do remember the camera focused on the middle aged man’s burned hand and that we were given a flashback of the teenager, whose hand was burned.

Yes, I guess I was confused by the information provided on Asianwiki (please see my response to @wishfultoki).
