Even Shin is not sure why they all went crazy to protect a position that he didn’t even want. Does the plot hole get better or worse when a character points it out?
I thought that the point was that they were wanting it all on his behalf – or thought he wanted it – but never actually checked with him. Or never knew him well enough to understand that this is a golden cage for him.
So in order to get him something that he has no interest in, they did the thing to him that he’s feared most ever since he was a little boy: replace him with a robot who does what his mum tells him.
I find it equally problematic that they spent how many episodes saying that they had to activate a kill switch if Shin wakes up so that a robot doesn’t have Shin’s face and memories without his permission and now they seem to have dropped it? (Not to mention, I think the same problem applies even if he was in a coma.) This show raises all of these incredible questions and then seems to drop them. If it picks up even half of the threads, it will be a great show… But I’m not holding my breathe.
That poor kid just wants to live HIS life by making his OWN decisions and all these idiot are doing their best by ‘protecting’ something he doesn’t even want and then acting all holier-than-thou. No wonder he’s got rage issues!
And now So Bong is protecting Shinammon by giving him half truths about what is going on. Sigh. He just needs to walk around holding everyone’s hand all the time because no one here knows how to tell the truth.

Oh the irony…
