Checking in with Fuyao lovin’ Beanies @giegie0384, @linda-palapala, @belladonna—Are you ready for tomorrow’s conclusion of Legend of Fuyao? Week 7 was emotionally wrenching for all the characters but I feel like Wuji (and actor Ethan Ruan’s facial muscles) got the brunt of last week’s pathos.

Lots of good crying and blubbering from Ethan Ruan in Episode 64 of Legend of Fuyao

    This laugh-cry is especially lovely

My comment disappeared – try again. Ethan gives such a great emotional performance in these episodes. I knew they were coming since the last kingdom they go to is his family’s. Now to the conclusion and the Ancient Firmament. I hope it’s true that it’s a happy ending and not some false imagination thing. I’ll believe it tomorrow.
I can’t imagine another fantasy is going to be this good anytime soon. In fact I’m already on episode 3 again. And watching some of his movies – New York, New York and Paradise in Service.
Hopefully we’ll have a final discussion!

Yes! I want our WuFo to have a real happy ending and not some sort of Inception-type bubble.

I’m looking forward to Ethan’s future projects and wouldn’t mind if he did a short, frothy little rom-com with lots of flirting. ;D

      Ethan Ruan is good! ^^
I love his scene with his Emperor dad, my favorite this week and one of my faves in the entire drama. I lost it when the Emperor asked “Why are you not my son?” *sobs*

Can’t wait for the last two episodes.

The Emperor was heartbreaking. Messed up but heartbreaking.

I thought that was amazing writing. Not only did the emperor love/hate Wuji but the writers made us hate/love the Emperor. They messed with our minds almost as much as the Emperor’s confession messed with Wuji.
How powerful was what Wuji said about the father he had turned out that he hated him and the man Wuji hated the most gave his life for him.
          Incredible writing. Incredible performance.

Oops, just woke up didn’t have coffee yet…what Wuji said about the father he loved and respected actually hated him…

This same sort of scene was in Nirvana in Fire 2. Liu Hao Ran said he was really stressed out about the crying and I guess they did the scene enough times that his eyes were swollen. Wish I could find that interview again.

I just watched the last 15 minutes raw and it was mostly conversation, so I still can’t tell! The final scene looks like Paradise, but the music fits a real happy ending. I can hardly wait for the subs!

I found this quote from an interview with Liu Hao Ran (NIF2) and the quote about the wind fits the meaning of the word “fuyao” wonderfully:
That’s why Liu Hao Ran wrote The Eye of the Storm. In his acting projects, he is portraying a character, but the stories in the book are entirely his own. Photography is a great way to record unfiltered reality, so the young actor and his young photographer wanted to keep the pictures as natural as possible. In his book, Liu Hao Ran mentions that maybe in a few years, when he’s no longer as young, he will be “heavier”. His hope is, at that time, he will no longer panic when he’s being carried by high speed, spinning winds, and that he will no longer worry about giving so much that he is left feeling hollow. “What if the wind is bigger then?”, the youth asks. But when it comes to growing up, there have never been any clear answers. The wind can enable you to fly very high; it can take you to the ocean, or it can keep you on the meadow or in the forest – it can take you anywhere.

Correction: Ethan Juan. Have I been misspelling his name for weeks?

Finale: so many questions! Did Fei Yan ascend to cause trouble in a possible 2nd season? Does anyone know what happens in the novel between Fuyao defeating Feitian’s black smoke and the paradise they’re in at the end? More questions but I’ll wait for you…
