As I’m still semislumped and not at all tired I seem to be binging House of Anubis. Why? I dunno. I was too old for this ridiculous show when it first came on so 6 years later I’m even more too old and this show is still adorable.
Omo, I remember that show. How many genres can you mash together? It was a young adult, mystery, fantasy, boarding school soap opera. But I prefer the Dutch original, even if you can only watch it with crappy subs on YouTube.
Ive never seen the original. I love Nina/Fabian. I had to drop season 3 because the actress playing Nina goes to college. I remember there was such a stink about it that the actress did a special message saying that her fans knew all along that she would only be there for 2 seasons no matter how popular the show became because she really wanted to go to college and that they needed to give the new character a chance. For a kids show they had a pretty good head of suspense/tension in it. Ive finally gotten tired but I have to see how Nina gets out of the attic!
Did you watch Are You Afraid of the Dark? back in the day? I rewatch that every October.
There are some things the American version did better but the Dutch version had a way better Nina/Fabian. It took them longer to get together but when they did they stayed together and really felt like a solid, real teenage couple. Although they had this whole ridiculous plotline where he ended up Clark Kenting it in the house and Nina was the only one who knew he was Fabian. That was in the silly final season.
Still, nothing was as bad as the season 3 of the American one – I found that unwatchable.
I didn’t watch Are You Afraid of the Dark?. But if we’re talking US/Canadian sci-fantasy, I loved Strange Days at Blake Holsey High (Black Hole High) and was disappointed their final season was gutted by the failure of the production company.
I remember this show and I remember loving it for being a little edgier than other Nickelodeon shows. And the skinny blonde guy (I can’t remem his name) but I was so happy to see him in Game of Thrones as Lancel Lannister (even though I kinda hated his guts in it.) I wonder where the all are now.
