What an emotional episode! That cannot be denied, even if the episode was weak in terms of plot development. One example: Eugene cannot accompany Ae-shin because he is an outsider, and the headquarters/hiding spot of the Righteous Army cannot be comprised. And yet everyone and their mother (such as the former Pawn Shop/Fac Totem duo) walk into the camp of the rebels with no problem. Example two: the Japanese interpreter just happened to have made a copy of Takashi Mori’s list of Righteous Army members, which leads to the events of the final scene. Hmmm….I guess so. But how convenient it was for this revelation to appear at the penultimate episode.

Plot criticisms aside, this definitely was an emotional episode. RIP Kudo Hina/Lee (?) Yang-hwa (I believe that was her Korean name, please correct me if I am wrong).

Powerful acting from our all our leads. But I think that the strongest point of the show has always been the performances.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed for an awesome finale (although, in terms of the Korean struggle, this will mark just the beginnng of the long fight).

I cried through most of the episode but also had some of the same thoughts as you.
One of the saddest scenes (among many) was the emperor asking if there was ANY news about his country in the NYT. Especially after reading about the history and what really happened to Korea under Japan. It was so sad.
      Dreading watching the ending today……..

Maybe because Eugene did not want to be a part of the righteous armies while the others that came volunteered to be one? But I wonder why they allowed that mother and her child in. Wouldn’t it be dangerous?

That part is a little bit jarring. If the list is that important, the japanese armies should already have it a long time ago, Takashi Mori is their comrade after all. But they still need a traitor like Lee Dok Mun to connect the dots because he could linked the name to a face.

The performances of the leads and the supporting casts are really convincing 😭.

Yes, membership is key. But when we see the pawn shop duo, they just walk up to the Righteous Army camp. They weren’t seen joining beforehand; they just walk in with no problem. That’s the little detail that seemed a bit sloppy. I get that the writer wanted to be dramatic, but it didn’t make sense.
