Beanies, I need help! Does anyone know of American TV shows that were either from the 1980s, or set in the 1980s? And any ads (posters/ video is fine)?
Links or simple name-dropping will be great (: I need it for research I’m doing at work.
Off the top of my head:
Cheers
Family Ties
The Golden Girls
Hill Street Blues
St Elsewhere
Night Court
Married With Children
MacGyver
ALF
PeeWee’s Playhouse
Murder, She Wrote
Miami Vice
Moonlighting
Remmington Steele
The Wonder Years
Murphy Brown
Who’s the Boss
Dallas
Dynasty
It’s a bit anathema now, but The Cosby Show – I loved it growing up.
Cartoons:
Jem – best show ever! ^^
Inspector Gadget
DuckTales
The Smurfs
Transformers
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
GI Joe
The Real Ghostbusters
Thundercats
He-man
He-man! I watched it again when I was already in primary school, I didn’t understand why my toddler self loooooved him so much 😂
oMG, Inspector Gadget, I love the theme song.
I don’t know there’s Smurf cartoon, I only read the comics.
May I add,
Plastic man
Saint Seiya
Silverhawk
Magical Princess Gigi (I was obsessed with her ribbon stick 😂)
In case you were wondering, I’m trying to find out what marketing language (in terms of words and visuals) were used in the 80s, because the artist we are featuring in our upcoming programme is interested in that time period. It’s one of the more fun research topics I’ve been given, heh.

You were missing out if you never watched Smurfs! Hahaha. It was hugely popular growing up (child of the 80s here)
I had to google those cartoons. Plastic Man?!? Pfft. I have never even heard of this show. How do people come up with these ideas?
Magical Princess Gigi- I can see why you would be obsessed! Super cute! (But this and Saint Seiya aren’t American made)

I kind of wish I grew up during that time to see it! Although the 90s was pretty cool, too ^^
