I admire your perseverance! Hope you don’t mind me giving a try.
Bokju: Come out now! You’re dead to me. Do you know how worried I was? I even went to Han river thinking you might jump in there (?). Why did you switch your phone off? You bastard! … (something)… What are you doing, Jung Joonhyung? Jung Joonhyung, are you okay?
Joonhyung: Bokju, my mom didn’t come to see me. She came for money. To borrow money. I really… (something)… Just like how I missed my mom to death, but I held on, I thought mom also felt the same. I alone… (something)… I’m so embarrassed. I’m embarrassed to myself, aunt, uncle (?). I’m even more sadder than when mom abandoned me in the beginning, Bokju.
This scene is so sad :'(

I know I have a long way to go, but thank you!~
I have been watching dramas for 6 years now. I want to start studying Korean properly (because I suck at reading and writing), but haven’t gotten around that yet, because I’m lazy. That’s why I admire your willpower. Good luck! ๐Ÿ™‚

My translation: Bokjoo: Get out already! Really. You’re so dead. Do you know how much I worried? I thought you went and threw yourself in the Han River and went to look for you, you jerk! ***** You really have to be beaten to your senses. I got this from naver but I’m confused about the sentence structure. What are you doing? Joonhyung. Are you okay?
Joonhyung: Bokjoo. My mom didnโ€™t come to see me. She came because of money. To borrow money. I totally drank kimchi soup Is this some idiom I don’t know or did I translate that totally wrong? I missed my mom to death but I endured and lived. Did I want her to feel the same? I held it alone. I’m so embarassed. I’m embarassed to aunt (?) and uncle(?) too. I’m sadder than when mom came and saw me Bokjoo.

    Notifications start!

My translation: Bokjoo:Come out already! Really. Youโ€™re so dead. Do you know how much I worried? I thought you went and threw yourself in the Han River and went to look for you, you jerk! Did you forget a sentence here? โ€”> ์ „ํ™”๊ธฐ๋Š” ๋˜ ์™œ ๊บผ๋†“๋Š”๋ฐ? You jerk, you really have to be beaten to your senses. What are you doing? Joonhyung. Are you okay?

-๋‚˜์™€ is more for โ€œcome outโ€ instead of โ€œgo outโ€. Go out is more โ€œ๋‚˜๊ฐ€โ€
-The sentence in question is correct. A more literal translation would be: You have to be beaten up to come back to your senses, huh? Sentence structure-wise, what I just wrote fits better but the naver sentence is perfectly fine and probs better in terms of translating with English casual language in mind.

Joonhyung: Bokjoo. My mom didnโ€™t come to see me. She came because of money. To borrow money. I totally drank kimchi soup. Like how I missed my mom to death but I endured and lived, I thought she would feel the same way. But I was the only one so elated. Iโ€™m so embarassed. Iโ€™m so embarrassed at myself. Iโ€™m embarrassed towards Aunt and Uncle too. Iโ€™m sadder than when mom left me Bokjoo.
(1)The website I linked explains it more thoroughly but basically this phrase is a shortened version of an idiom (๋–ก ์ค„ ์‚ฌ๋žŒ์€ ์ƒ๊ฐ๋„ ์•Š๋Š”๋ฐ ๊น€์นซ๊ตญ๋ถ€ํ„ฐ ๋งˆ์‹ ๋‹ค) that means counting your eggs before they hatch. https://wiseinit.com/๊น€์นซ๊ตญ์„-๋งˆ์‹œ๋‹ค-korean-idioms-27/
Just FYI ๊น€์นซ๊ตญ means the liquid that forms when the kimchi is fermented. In short it is kimchi soup but not like the hot soup/stew that we know (๊น€์น˜์ฐŒ๊ฐœ). Koreans often drink this liquid with other foods or use it as another ingredient in making food (I put it in to make kimchi pancakes!) so it has a separate name than the stew.
      (2) Viki tends to end their sentences in the Korean subs too early which makes it difficult for you when you translate. It should be without a period and I corrected one sub mistake: ๋‚ด๊ฐ€ ์—„๋งˆ ์ฃฝ์„๋งŒํผ ๋ณด๊ณ ์‹ถ์–ด๋„ ์ฐธ๊ณ  ์‚ด์•˜๋“ฏ์ด, ์—„๋งˆ๋„ ๊ทธ๋žฌ๊ตฌ๋‚˜, ์‹ถ์—ˆ๊ฑฐ๋“ ? So itโ€™s a pretty long sentence. I put a comma because there is a pause there thatโ€™ll help with translating. ๋“ฏ์ด means โ€œlike howโ€ which goes with the verb ending โ€œ๊ตฌ๋‚˜โ€ to be something like โ€œLike how ____, [statement that something is similarly ____]โ€ I also separated ์‹ถ์—ˆ๊ฑฐ๋“  with a comma because itโ€™s most similar to โ€œI thoughtโ€ with a rhetorical question.
(3)๋‚˜ํ˜ผ์ž ๋“ค๋–ด์–ด. ๋“ค๋œจ๋‹ค is the root verb that most closely fits the verb โ€œto be elatedโ€ because it has a similar definition โ€œto be lifted up with happy emotionโ€
      (4) I think there was a mistake in the subs. It should be: ๋ฒ„๋ฆฌ๊ณ  not ๋ณด๋ฆฌ๊ณ . ๋ณด๋ฆฌ isnโ€™t a verb. ๋ฒ„๋ฆฌ๋‹ค means means to throw away.

Thanks for the explanations and corrections!
The sentence I missed should be “Why did you turn your phone off?” right?
Idioms in other languages are so interesting 🙂
