Hundred Million stars Ep 5
**No spoilers please – of Ep 6 or original version**

Jin Kook – His rage when he realized that his sister was hurt with intent and inspite of that letting go of the girl due to compassion (For her mental situation), was a great character trait – its going to be hard to see this man break (why do I feel its coming soon!!). JK, don’t break Oppa’s heart!!

Jin Kang – ok, what’s your deal?. Do you feel more compassion for Woo Young because he is an orphan that you are willing to not expose him to your friend Seung-Ah?
Towards the end it was obvious Moo Young lied – because Seung Ah’s version and his did not add up.
MY never told SA that he didn’t love her. He just left. Seeing Ah assumes she hurt his pride.
That right there was a major red flag.
Also, JK seemed to know what SeungAh misunderstood the orphanage nun clothing. But she did not reveal that either (this am OK since its his personal detail and may be she thinks revealing someone as an orphan is not good etiquette. She even refrains from saying so to her brother).
Woo Young told JK that he liked her and asked for a date. Even that did not make JK talk to Seung Ah.
So far, Jin Kang’s attempt to put sense into SEung-Ah seems very feeble.
Seung-Ah has no clue that WooYoung and JK are close enough to be having dinner together or going to work together.

Is it just compassion for a fellow orphan or is there more?

Also, what was the significance of showing her feet (toe raising) when she confronted with her brother about Woo Young. (Minute 27). May be its a little detail that we will get answers to later?

Or may be he did tell Seung-Ah that he didn’t love her. But she was too in love with him that she misinterpreted that to his hurt pride.
The more I think, I doubt MY will lie to JK.

We don’t even know which one of them is saying the truth, for now.
JK can’t tell Seung Ah about MY because (1) from what we’ve seen so far, SA will just probably make up an excuse for MY (2) This is a relationship about 2 adults, they should be more honest to their selves. Knowing everything about each of them does not give her the right to tell one about the other person.

Agreed with this. I think Jin-kang knows that Seung-ah stubbornly live in her own nice little bubble. Nothing she said will penetrate because that girl is determined to see things her own way (I can sort of understand it though given that Moo-young is the first choice she made for herself. I guess there’s some degree of willingness from her part to take everything he said at face value because she wanted this to be as perfect as what she dreamed about).

And also, I don’t think she wanted to meddle in their relationship more than giving Moo-young stern warning or cautioning Seung-ah to take things slowly. As for telling Seung-ah about his real background or about him liking her, Jin-kang must felt that it’s not her place to reveal such information (besides, I don’t think she takes Moo-young’s confession seriously).

Some reasons I can think of why Jin Kang feels compassionate towards Woo Young
        1) Jin Kang relates to WY because he is an orphan, is from Haesan and has a scar. She probably is more understanding of his situation because it closely mirrors her life. Albeit one detail. She was extremely fortunate to have Jin Kook as her brother who dotes on her. She sees that WY lacks family/has no one and thereby is unable to dismiss him.
        2) Jin Kang was probably similar to Woo Young when young, during middle school. It was the time she was bullied and went through a lot. May be she was like MY at that point in life. And somehow she pulled herself out of it and learned to look at life positively. She might want to be that person who pulls WY from his darkness and show him that life is wonderful and there are positive things in people/life.

In all this, I worry Jin Kook is going to find all the ‘circumstantial’ evidence against Woo Young and Jin Kang is going to fight for Woo Young’s innocence.
We already saw how she was talking to her Oppa defending WY. She might over compensate for her brother’s bias. That wont be nice for the siblings!

Where I disagree is this: Jin Kang had a chance in the beginning. I know she’s in between a rock and a hard place and while she might not want to meddle with her friend’s relationship, I feel it’s a friend’s duty to tell you these things. If it’s someone you consider a good friend – not an acquaintance or a casual friend but a real, good friend – you shouldn’t be able to watch someone toy with their feelings without saying something to them. When JK saw MY in the cinema with a girl and confronted him, that’s was her chance. From there on, she knew he was iffy about their relationship. Knowing Seung Ah, she’s the type that could end up hating on JK for it but still, I felt that was the time JK had to say something. ‘I saw your boyfriend somewhere with someone else – they looked too cozy to be platonic. Be careful – and I’m sorry if I misunderstood. I just had to tell you’
Of course, things like these don’t usually go about this easily. It could end up causing a rift between friends but…I’d still tell you.

Telling SA that MY said he likes her is..(I don’t know).. Just not a good thing at the moment, hiding it from her is not either… 😟
Oh, my head hurts from thinking too much about this 😀

It puts her in a very awkward position, but at the same time a friend is a friend.
I haven’t seen the newest ep yet so dont know what her follow through will be.

I feel the friendship between SEung-Ah and Jin Kang is imbalanced. It’s always Seung-Ah who ‘needs’ JK and JK is there for her.
Even when JK could have used Seung-Ah’s help to boost her career, she was very reluctant.
I really want to see how they became friends. And why doesnt JK have other friends of her age?

Same question re: other friends of jin Kang!! Seriously though. She was slapped by Seung-Ah’s mother, SA did not even apologize and kept asking for help, and yet Jin Kang kept helping her out (why though? I thought that when she and MY were talking at the restaurant, she told MY that that was the last one. Or perhaps Jin Kang is just too nice)

I think JK is just protective of MY, maybe because of their shared scars, being both orphans? Maybe she didnt tell her friend about MY liking her just to shield her from hurt? Maybe she sees the good in MY even though none of us do? I dont know so many questions my brain hurts…

I noticed the feet shot too? It seemed odd, so maybe one of her tells? Or just bad editing, lol.

I just love Jin-kook so far. I hope the back story doesn’t shake that.

Its interesting to see how MY is going about discovering if he likes JK. Like he doesn’t recognize the emotion but isn’t turned off by the idea, maybe is even intrigued by it. But almost intrigued in a ” This is something new and not boring to play with”.

I can’t tell if he was surprised to find what was in his outside can or not.

Biggest mystery might be why everyone thinks our heroine is not pretty. Maybe this is all misunderstandings based on bad eyesight.

LOL– yes… no idea.. may be because she does dress-up in the dainty manner? (like Seung-Ah).

MY – Even when she called him late at night (from hospital) is expression was blank. He wasnt happy or thrilled or even curious. He was just blank/expressionless.

That’s exactly why I found that sequence jaw dropping. The too casual way he confessed to Jin-kang despite his (what I perceive as) surprise at Yoo-ri’s accussation is something I couldn’t wrap my head around.

It’s almost like it’s a puzzle for him, these new feelings. I wonder if he ever has strong feelings or has had someone else have an affect him.

Jin Kook is honestly a really great character till now! And it would really hurt to see him hurt.

Yeah I feel like Jin Kang questions her own self for why she is doing certain things. She has this inexplicable trust in Moo Young. She keeps expecting him to do “better” while unknowingly she keeps doing what is “bad” according to her own or society’s moral norms.

It could be her tell? Like she does that when she lies or doesnt disclose the whole truth.
