I was right about the bones! If only the trio had tested out my theory by burning them. LOL
(I guess that comes from watching episodes of Supernatural with my sis , lol). I mentioned in a reply to another Beanie’s comment that I never truly felt that Priest Yang was Park Il-do. I was just waiting for another twist. The reveal that Grandpa was the Big Bad was disappointing in the sense that Haraboji was such a sweet person, and he was the only true family left in Hwa-pyung’s life. Was there anything at all left of Grandpa during those twenty years of possession? How could such an evil spirit have been able to mimic goodness to the extent that he completely fooled those around him, especially Hwa-pyung, who lived with him for a long time (how did Hwa-pyung have no inkling of the truth?). While it might have been easier to fool others, how could he have pulled the wool over Hwa-pyung’s eyes?

The ending was kind of bittersweet. I felt pained for Hwa-pyung, and I would have hated him to die after all that he went through. And to see him possessed and fighting that possession–how terrible!
I would have liked for him to be able to lead a normal life, but till the very end, he will continue to be on the lookout for Sohn.

Speaking of Sohn, wasn’t that scene in which the possessed Hwa-pyung tells Priest Yoon that he has gone by many names throughout the ages quite powerful? In many cultures, there seems to be that belief that knowing the name of something or someone gives you power over that something or someone. Here, Sohn is telling the Priest that the latter has no power. Sohn has come in many incarnations, with countless names. In view of the postscript left by the director of the drama, this makes sense. Sohn is a metaphor for the darkness in mankind. Evil persists because that darkness is ever present. For as long as there is greed, anger, hate, etc., there will be Sohn.

As for our trio, I am glad that they made it out alive. I hope that they can find some happiness in life. As least they can turn to their friendship and strengthen one another.

Yeah they could’ve burnt the bones! Totally a missed opportunity. But I guess it wouldn’t have worked, probably because he was in grandpa’s body for so long or since he’s a superior spirit it wouldn’t have worked.

about grandpa is Park Il do and why HP never suspect it before
      here my thought:

      Grandpa accepted PID

in the flashback in ep 16, grandpa said he will do anything what PID want but don’t harm his grandson, which is HP

and based on Priest Yang, when human accepted the evil spirit and already stayed for a long time, it would be hard to detect it

and if i’m not mistaken, after the incident 20 years ago, little HP is not stayed with Grandpa but with their relatives, and I assume HP had just returned to grandpa’s when he was a teenager or adult..
and PID loves HP (at least as a good vessel for him) so he really treat HP well (well it’s means not gonna makes him die) while waiting until HP’s crack become bigger or when HP accept him voluntary

        Good points @nomunamu.

I wonder, though, how much of a role the host plays. Is the host just an empty vessel? We know that the lesser spirits prey upon the real thoughts/desires/emotions of the bodies they inhabit, but how much of the host is an active player afterwards? In grandpa’s case, was there any bit of his real self left when he interacted with Hwa-pyung or was everything Park Il-Do? And LOL, regarding your last sentence. I guess that Park Il-do does have a twisted love for Hwa-pyung.

          I’m not sure about grandpa
I also confused about why he got stabbed by dad in the first place…
I mean dad is already possessed, so PID is his master right? why attacked grandpa (based on HP’s vision)? or it’s just a PID’s trick so HP’s crack become bigger? 🧐

but I also really think a host has something to do with a spirit inside them
at least at the first couple of minutes

it’s about give in or not,
          evil spirit eat your soul
it becomes fast when you give in (brothers from sharing hand) — he completely take over all of you

          but, when you not
(like a girlfriend and HP’s case)
we could see a mind battle within that possessed body, sometimes they conscious/we can see their true self resurface

          haha sorry for long theory
I can’t wait until the recap is out and read all beanies’ comments

I was SUPER disappointed in the big reveal. I hated that grandpa was PID.
