At first I thought Fluttering Alert was junk food, but it has surprisingly transformed to wholesome chicken soup โ€“at the end of a long tiring day, it is the comfort food I want on the table. The OTP is just wonderfully genuine and has such beautiful easy rapport with one another.

These are just a few moments from episode 7:
She completes him and he acknowledges it in such an adorable low key way

She loves to be touched by him and wants more

She teases him and he welcomes it warmly

The cute is bringing me all kinds of giggles and giddiness, which makes all the other trite drama clichรฉ insignificant and barely noticeable.

Watching these gifs almost makes me want to see them to be together in real life. But naaah, Chu Jung-myung is MINE!

Okay I’m.adding this drama to my to-watch list!

These two are so darn cute together, they completely carry this drama. That it’s based on a web novel makes me hopeful that there’s enough plot to make me watch this for 16 episodes. I want 16 episodes of happy cuteness with some sort of story.

*ignore that – I’d probably watch them for 16 episodes, even if nothing happened*

I didnโ€™t realize that this is based on a web novel! I love episode 7 because it is almost all OTP, with just a few seconds of that head scratching chaebol daughter shenanigans.

I loved ep 7 because when the mother reveal comes, he takes a couple of minutes to compose himself and then talks to her completely rationally. No tantrums, no screaming, he just does the right thing – looking terribly upset about the whole thing.

Also, I was happy that it came out so early, so that if the mother wants to redeem herself, she’s got half a series left to do that in.

            Oh @kimbapnoona that’s funny!

Well, it was a really good moment and different from what you’d normally get in a kdrama.

Are we turning your fanwall into a fauxpen thread again for a non-recapped drama?

Episode 7 has been my favourite by far as well. When he asked his mum why she wanted to send him back into that household knowing the childhood fire was targeted at him, I think my gasp echoed hers.

Also, when she found out he’d been setting the table for her all these years. Even though I knew that from the earlier episode, it still made me deeply sad for both of them.

I do love so much how Woo-Hyun handles the news..,he took some time in the hospital hallway to sort out his own feelings with the lies and betrayal, and then confronted his mother in such solemn yet gentle way.

His reaction to his hyungโ€™s betrayal was great too. His immediate reaction was not โ€œhow could you do this to me?โ€ but rather to the effect of โ€œhow could a doctor do such a thing?โ€

I was very happy that the mom felt ashamed immediately because I thought she was going to pile on more lies to make excuses for herself. What pushes episode 7 to be the best so far is that after that scene we get Yoo-jung going to his mother without a shred of resentment, purely on a mission to find ways to make her man live without regrets and to move pass this. It became super awesome when the mother was able to acknowledge how she has so much less ability to judge characters than her son โ˜บ๏ธ

Hahaha those were the days @cloggie! I donโ€™t know I want to jinx this drama by starting another fauxpen thread 😂

BTW, not so enamored here with the pretend-gay BFF plot line here…..hopefully it will pass as quickly as I roll my eyes.

Last night after watching episode 7, I just got the urge to make GIFs of this lovely couple because I want to be reminded of their loveliness as easy as accessing oneโ€™s own fan wall!

@kimbapnoona, Everything you just said about the OTP. I realised halfway through the episode that my face had started to ache from watching them on my screen! Chaebol/business drama aside, this show is lovely and just keeps getting better. The unexpected turns with his mother and the CEO in this episode made me catch my breath. I’m so looking forward to tonight’s episode.

I was a little surprised and delighted that the mom is finally turning around and realizing how terrible she is. It is great that this plot line is not being drawn out and the son is able to work through it and forgives her relatively quickly even though the mother deserves none.

My heart broke for him when he found out the truth the first thing said to his mother was that he was relieved that she is not sick. 😭😭😭 What a beautiful person!!!

Hahaha @thatstp, the OTPโ€™s interactions feel so real but you just posted out the fantasy element of the show! It would be almost impossible for someone like Woo-hyun irl to be so well-adjusted. He said the best revenge is to live a well-balanced and happy life for god sake!!!! ๐Ÿคฃ

@dramafan12 I think he’s very much driven by ‘not wanting to be like his parents.’

That’s why he hadn’t dated that much – didn’t want to be like his five times divorced mother – and made his own career – didn’t want to be like his money-grabbing chaebol father.

I have watched many dramas with cute OTPs, but this pair feels special in a distinct way. They come to realize their feelings quite quickly and cherish each otherโ€™s company without hiding anything. The pretense is only to be considerate of others around them. I donโ€™t want a single thing changed about either of them. Like the show continually points out, they are both good people.

I will be so upset if the show takes their easy and warm interactions away from us!

I haven’t watched episode 7 yet because I’ve been cooking for Thanksgiving. I’m finally finished, I’m practically home alone since everyone has gone out holiday visiting. Time for me and my otp. After reading the comments about episode seven I’m excited!

    @kimbapnoona, @manohira, @cloggie, @thatstp, @dramafan12, @greenfields
It warms the cockles of my heart to see fellow Beanies enjoying the delicious โ€œchicken soupโ€ that is Fluttering Alert/Love Warning/Tingling Advisory. (I love your soup metaphor, @kimbapnoona!) I could stare at these GIFs all day.

Thereโ€™s no denying the drama is tropey but it just all melts into the background. (See the list and comments on @egadโ€™s fan wall.) Whatโ€™s more significant is how the show is sui generis in its treatment of humor as an essential element of romantic love.

The appeal of this OTP is unlike anything Iโ€™ve seen this year. As @kimbapnoona said earlier, they engender a level of โ€œgiggles and giddinessโ€ that transforms what couldโ€™ve been a banal story into essential, comfort viewing.

When I look back at past shows with swoony couples, it seems that I, as a viewer, was doing a lot of the heavy lifting. Iwas projecting my sexual attraction towards the male lead. I was imagining the inner thoughts of the brooding, non-communicative hero. I was filling in plot-holes โ€ฆ

But these guys? Holy crap. Itโ€™s my first time watching Chun Jung-Myung (Cha Woo-Hyun) and Yoon Eun-Hye (Yoon Yoo-Jung) and find them both equally irresistible.

Think about your favorite BTS videos. Isnโ€™t it the videos of actors laughing warmly together that makes you love the show more? Fluttering Alert bakes the laughs into the story, making the OTP all more relatable and loveable.

Iโ€™m off to place some Thanksgiving leftovers on my DramaGods altar. Iโ€™m asking for the love story to stay on course and for a future project with these two leads again.

@tsutsuloo I first watched Chun Jung-Myung in Heart to Heart. His character was different from the one he plays here, practically opposite, actually, but I liked him a lot. He’s the reason I came to Fluttering Alert and, of course, he hasn’t disappointed.

I love everything you said @tsutsuloo! You are absolutely right that there is no heavy lifting needed here. We who love the OTP can simply just sit back and enjoy their interactions like they do themselves. What a concept!

It took me a little effort to get into Heart to Heart. The OTP is great but I really had to turn a blind eye to the blurry doctor/patient relationship. The story has a lot of heart and I was glad that I kept watching.
