    Text of Auntie Pakalana’s first proclamation as a DB Fan Club President, preserved for posteriority

    Please note that the document was revised to open membership to viewers whose laudable instincts for self-preservation kicked in before the show’s finale.

    Take #3. Legal Counsel advised that I had not dotted every i nor crossed every t. Sheesh.

    I tried to come up with an appropriate sageukese term for “nameless,” but failed miserably. Perhaps @kiara would graciously bail us out with a stock sageuk name (e.g., Moo-something-or-other). We could refer to each other by that moniker + number. Instructions for secret handshake to follow. Maybe. 😉

    *clears throat*

    I have heard your lamentations. Allow me to formalize the charter and revise it to be more inclusive:

    As a newly-minted Drama Beans Fan Club President endowed with all the rights and obligations accrued thereto, I solemnly proclaim the establishment of the Woo Do-Hwan and Kim Min-Jae Nameless Fan Club, abbreviated for convenience as WDH&KMJNFC, for the mutual aid of Beanies who have fallen victim to the actors’ mesmerizing charms, particularly while they perform in Kdramas and films of such questionable virtue that publicly-acknowledged viewers risk significant social ridicule and/or opprobrium.

    The fandom’s name purposely does not mention the production provoking such unmitigated embarrassment that its viewers seek solace in virtual exile. Let it devolve into obscurity in the company of other Kdramas That Shall Not Be Named.

    Self-identifying members of DramaBeans and the greater Kdramaland public may wish to avail themselves of a randomly-numbered generic sageuk Korean “Nameless” pseudonym, which may or may not be announced at a future date. Alternatively, one may use the format WDH&KMJNFC followed by a number of one’s choosing, e.g., WDH&KMJNFC#1, which is now officially taken. Neener.

    Proclaimed this 12th day of December 2018 in the Eastern Time Zone of the United States of America, retroactive to 10 December 2018 of said time zone.

      Thanks to @saya‘s episode 1 recap of MASTER–GOD OF NOODLE, I’ve confirmed that “moo-myung” means “nameless.” Yee hah! We’re in business.

      Amendment 1:

      To embrace their namelessness, members of WDH&KMJNFC may adopt the pseudonym “Moo-myung” (“nameless”) followed by a number of their choosing, should they so desire.

    So, I’m confused, being just a lowly MD, and not a JD. Am I allowed in the club? I don’t finish dramas that are going off the rails. Dropped Pretty Noona, and don’t even start the ones that Beanies start complaining about. That’s the “self-preservation” thing kicking in, right? I really have a high sense of that, in real life and in dramas. Lol.

      If your fangirling over Woo Do-hwan and/or Kim Min-jae has compelled you to watch their works, you’re in like Flynn. If you self-identify as a member of WDH&KMJNFC, that’s good enough for us. You don’t even have to hate-watch The Nameless Drama. 😉

      If you haven’t seen MAD DOG, consider doing so when you’re back from your Kdrama sabbatical. It’s a good show. Which makes that Nameless Drama all the more retrograde in comparison.

      BTW, your self-restraint and sense of self-preservation are most admirable. 😉

      PS — Be sure to pick a number, any number. 😉
