Looks good to me! Were you going to write the rest of the address in Hangul too?

No! It took me 30 minutes just to write that! Lol

😄 Your writing is so neat. It looks a lot better than mine. You could probably copy paste the hangul address from the Instagram post into a word doc and print it out and put it on there. I thought hobakky had said to put both.

Yes! I sent him our Christmas card. I send a couple oversees to family and friends in the military already, so I thought it’d be cool to send one to him! I just wished him well, told him we were all fans of his acting and music, etc. It was pretty generic.

No, I’m not that cool! Just ask my kids. All I did was put an address on an envelope.

Lol I would be secretly impressed if my mum sent a mail to her idol. Way to go!

    But what’s inside the envelope?

Try pasting these into a doc and printing it out to bring to the post office:
    Recruit #58 Yoon Doo Joon
11th Company, 27th Division Recruit Training Center
    80 Sumilli-gil, Sanae-myeon, Hwacheon-gun
    Kangwon-do
    24160
    SOUTH KOREA
and the Korean Version if you’d like to add it should be:
    강원도 화천군 사내면 수밀리길 80,
    27사단 신병교육대대 11중대 58번 훈련병 윤두준 앞
    24160
Since I’m not entirely sure which English spellings/format the post office will use, I’d suggest you bring a blank envelope and once the postman approves of the address you can just copy it onto the envelope. They’ll probably even let you cut out and tape them on instead of handwriting it.

Okay! This makes more sense. Why did they put it backwards in the first place? Now, we have this for the next two years for anyone who wants to send Doo-Joon mail!

You can thank Japan for that. Japan’s always used a large to small approach for addresses and the system spread to Korea during the occupation era. However, at least in Japan they have a romanization system that’s pretty much agreed upon across the globe, so the only quirky thing you have to worry about is switching the order. Korean is not so simple (ex. Korea almost always likes to spell things with a G like Gangwon-do or Gimchi, but the U.S. almost always uses a K instead) so you’ve got both order AND spelling to worry about. Then to top it all off, Korea changed their zip-code system recently so there’s just a whole ton of confusion to be had when figuring out how to mail stuff there lol
