After watching Last empress I now understand why I found the PD’s other workReturn just as enjoyable. Although the writing was more thought out and made me curious for the next episode for Return, The Last Empress is solely enjoyable because of its crazy plotting and over the top characters thanks to the PD. At first it disappointed because it wasn’t the type of show I wanted it to be but watching it in another perspective is so much more enjoyable. Can’t wait to see what sort of craziness next week will bring.

Return was also enjoyable to watch, but for me, The Last Empress’ credit is largely due to the writer, Kim Sun Ok because she is one famous makjang’s writer in Korea. Her popularity is almost the same as Kim Eun Sook in Korea and she had many hit drama under her belt. Her formula also is the pretty similar in almost drama and it made every drama entertaining to watch lol. This PD on the other hand didn’t have good credits in the past. He probably just lucky to meet writers (Return and The Last Empress) who know what they exactly want in their drama. Not to mention the actors mostly are seniors and some are familiar faces in makjang too.

I had no idea about the writers credits for last empress since I don’t usually watch weekend dramas but that’s interesting to know.

I also enjoyed Return ! The writer knows how to write good makjang. I wanted to watch one of her previous work but I can’t find strengh to watch a long makjang drama.
