I had one specific actor in mind when I wrote this but unfortunately, it does apply to more than one. Most of these actors are super popular and get raves for great acting. I suppose their style just doesn’t sit well with me. Different strokes for different folks.
Maybe my nerves were raw when I was watching MotA last night. Hee Joo – PSH’s character made me want to throttle her. I was of course being unreasonable. Rationally, I will admit it is the writer and PD who made the character such a piece of work. It doesn’t help though that PSH seems to gravitate to such characters.
Perhaps given with a character who is without guile or color, PSH might be over compensating by acting out each emotion be it small or big but I can do without all those eyes widening, mouth agape and trembling.

No offense taken! I’m not very familiar with her work (other than seeing her in a few episodes of Doctors) but do know she gets a lot of criticism. From what little I’ve seen, she can definitely improve in certain areas. I do think it seems to be more her role in MotA. Her character definitely seems to be written to be there as a support for the male lead.
By the way, I haven’t seen the last couple episodes yet. The reviews of them aren’t really making it all that enticing anyways.
Either way, I hope there comes a point in the drama where PSH can step up her acting game. Or that her characters gets a moment to shine (which doesn’t seem likely).

I’m still fairly new to K-dramas, but I have seen people criticize her acting at least a bit. And not in reference to just one drama but her other works as well. But like you said, it could just be people who don’t like her in general and don’t even give her acting a shot.

What’s worse than a wooden actor?
One with too many micro facial expressions or one whose face exaggerates every single emotion.
Sigh It makes watching so tiring.
