Kind Beanies,
I am back after 5 month long hiatus from dramaland. In these five months, I’ve started my graduate studies aka Ph.D. And I am frustrated with my lack of progress already. So, I started watching Korean drama to blow off some steam and I started it with My Name is Kim Samsoon. I can’t believe I hadn’t watched this little gem before. I am hoping for some more suggestions like this because I am pretty sure I will need a whole list of drama to drive my general frustration away for a while now. So any suggestions, also I wouldn’t mind if I have any fellow beanies who are pursuing graduate studies here sharing some experience with me as I am currently deeply facing imposter syndrome all the time and doing absolutely crappy things to handle them. I am in desperate need of some encouragement.

    Welcome back!
Boyfriend is a nice, slow, relaxing watch.
If you want something totally insane, I recommend The Last Empress (I’m not actually watching it but the beanies who are watching it are having a lot of fun).
Just Dance was a recent sweet, slice of life drama.
    Good luck with your PhD!

Hello there! So happy for not being the only one pursuing graduate studies and running to kdramas for some comfort!
Here’s what I love to hear from people around me “It’s all fine! Hang in there and it shall all come to pass. Every single sacrifice will be worth it. And yes, you deserve those kdrama episodes!”
    Fighting Chinguya!!

Ra On Ah gave some good recommendations – I’ve heard Girl’s Generation 1979 is a nice, meaningful, and relatable watch, as well. 🙂

Currently in the midst of college, though not quite at the PhD point 😂, but I love this Winnie the Pooh quote :

“You are braver than you believe,
    Stronger than you seem,
    and smarter than you think.”

You got this!! You have, after all, survived 100% of your worst and hardest days. I commend you on all of your hard work! Take your breaks and be gentle with yourself. 😀 You’re doing great.

Yep, I went through the same exact thing. I found that honesty helps. I went to my supervisor and just said “I don’t feel like I’m making progress. Can you help me?” I did have supportive supervisors who gave me tips… if not try to talk to other PhDs. You’ll find that many people suffer from Impostor Syndrome too. Fighting!
