Also, I know most of the finale was about WK and RC, but honestly? JH made the ep for me. He’s not my fave for nothing, but this ep just cemented it.
First, he truly redeemed himself for unfairly accusing WK in ep 13-14. This time, he really did trust her to the end. He knew exactly who she was messaging but didn’t call her out on it. Instead, he asked her to be honest when he asked what she’d do, and then simply asked that she call if thought she was on the edge. My boy, my son, I am so proud. When he thanked WK for not going there and said that if he saw another EH, it’d be hell for him too, I just 😭 (on that note, I’m glad he’s understood EH made him do it on purpose, and seems to have come to terms with it now) (also, apparently JH’s idea of comfort is to stand by your side while you cry like son 😂 a hand on the shoulder won’t kill you)
Second, I outright squealed when JH told his senior not to touch any of his kids LIKE HE JUST CALLED SY ONE OF HIS KIDS OKAY, LOOK HOW FAR WE HAVE COME. All I want is JH being a grumpy papa bear and raising SY into a proud lieutenant to take his place one day, alright, that is all that I ask. Also wouldn’t complain if he convinced her to send her stepbrother a restraining order.
Third, it was left far too late in the show imo, but I was so happy to hear how JH opened up thanks to his interactions with Ha-Na (adopt her, please). I was actually really surprised there wasn’t more to his backstory (sleeping in a bath tub bc being in pain helps you not think? love of rod until middle school? boy how r u normal), but hey, the baby’s clearly happier than how he started unlike some ppl so I’m happy he’s happy.
I didn’t feel any emotional tention between those two. He decided he would trust her but needed to remind her that he won’t judge her if she wavered this time, it just will make him sad because he could loose a friend. I don’t understand shippers either. There was no romantic involvement between anybody. In life when dealing with issues like this you don’t think about romantic relationships, you try to live.
I didn’t ship them romantically. But there was a definite emotional link between them due to her finding in him the only person who believed her, and his seeing her apparent illusions proving his own theories on the murders, and both of them caring too much for the cases. And this link created tension when he doubted her, when he trusted her, and when he feared for her life. But in the few last episodes this link and tension completely disappeared.
It didn’t disappear though – EH’d chosen WK to target to get killed, because he knew about this special bond JH and WK have. He was a brilliant observer. JH found out what it feels like to kill someone and he decided he doesn’t want to loose another person like that he didn’t trust fully ( he understood that he cannot even trust himself in difficult times) and leave her personal space – the same with his co-worker just he showed her she has his support in anything she does but she needs to think properly and not blind herself with hate, guilt or rage.
I know. That scene with EH was brilliant. That is probably why I sorely missed it right after. Overall JH was a perfectly written and acted character. In fact I started live watching for the first time because of him. After reading recaps up to episode 9/10 his character compelled me.
Lol, speaking on behalf of my fellow shippers, I don’t think any of us assumed there was a romance already there, just that there was a potential for something more in the future. I think ppl like me tend to ship pairs like WK and JH bc we’re drawn to that emotional attachment, especially in hard times. Some ppl look for fireworks, some ppl look for deep roots. To each their own!
I totally get where you’re coming from. I felt sad bc the bond between WK and JH in the first half of the show is what drew me to livewatch. I don’t think it totally disappeared (also, super happy to see they seem to be keeping up their friendship), but I was sad at how it was no longer in focus.

JH was my favorite character too, and it was disappointing that the emotional tension between him and WK vanished in the latest episodes.
