I’m now halfway through REPLY 1988 (on ep.10)… and as I’m sure that things will get more dramatic in the second half; I’d like to give a shout-out to the first half.

I love how this show simultaneously manages to make me laugh (more like cackle) so hard, but also makes me cry huge and genuine tears of heartbreak.
I love how the whole Sangmungdong gang always stand up for each other and stick together; be it the parents or the kids. They’re all just one big and messy family, who all love each other in their own way. *wipes tears*✨
Now, if you’ll excuse me… I’ll go break my heart some more brb.

You’ve never known or felt real heartbreak—like, REAL heartbreak— when watching a drama until you’ve reached episode 18 of “REPLY 1988”…..
Disclaimer: Make sure you prepare a mountain of tissues… That’s all I’m going to say

I think, regardless of who’s ‘camp’ or team you’re on, it’ll still make anyone cry T…..T

I’m not firmly in any one camp, because I love the dynamics of both potential OTPs. But I’m anticipating heartbreak precisely for that reason, and I will feel really bad for the one who doesn’t get chosen.
As of now though, I’m rating the Taek-ship a liiiittle higher, because Jung-hwan’s behaviour is SO frustrating. At least Taek is unreserved about his feelings (albeit to everyone but Duk-seon herself…yet).

The preview of the next episode I’ll be watching showed him saying he was going to confess soon, so I’m looking forward to that possibility… if only so that one of the guys lets his feelings be known!

Agreed!! Both men had their own ways of showing their love for her– Taek was more quiet, subtle, reserved but she knew and she FELT that he would always be there for her and I think she finds comfort in that. Jung Hwan, on the other hand, is seemingly more wishy-washy and self-conflicted in whether or not he wanted to show his feelings and have everyone know about them but he still chose to do things for her because of his love for her. Yet, both men were okay and happy knowing that they at least could stay by her side, regardless if it was as a forever friend, family-but-not-by-blood (which I find is actually one of the most precious and BEST relationships that can be formed and had on the face of this earth) or the one she falls in love with and chooses as a life-partner, which is the thing that I find most beautiful in the relationships in the “Reply” series– it all comes down to the root of all your relationships that come full circle in what and who “family” really means for a person
