Is there any Beanies who now how to prevent oneself from overthinking? It’s like a bad habit, you know that it’s bad, but still you just can’t stop doing that. At least, it’s not that easy.. hrrrr
It is never easy. If at times it deviates into extreme anxiety, I try to bring myself back by recognizing a few things I can see, smell or touch currently. For overthinking alone, I suppose distraction helps. I distract myself by watching sth immediately. Otherwise I myself have been unsuccessful. Or maybe I just try to give myself a lesson that nothing like this would happen, just relax, don’t think that far, think of the current situation at hand first.
Intensive deep cleaning. Relatively heavy excercising. Both of these make me too tired to think and give me a very positive feeling physically after the tiredness fades.
i also tend to overthink and once got actually physically ill from the stress. since then i consciously try to relax and not worry so much.
first of all, prepare for whatever it is you’re anxious about. then, while waiting, distraction always helps. i find cleaning and organizing my home/space actually calms me down since it gives me a sense of control and tires me out.
and then when D-day comes, i’ll just think ‘whatever will be, will be’ and throw myself into it
prepare for the worst, hope for the best is my motto lol
I know. I think anxiety is something I am prone to have, if I haven’t had it already. I, too, have to remind myself regularly not to be too extreme in all things. Taking things a little bit more easy is also good enough.
I also tend to overthink, especially when I’m commuting and right before I go to sleep. Listening to music helps me alot. I listen to fun and upbeat songs in the morning to put myself in a good mood. Before sleeping, meditating really helps. There are guided ones on Spotify and Youtube that you could check out. Hope these help. 😊
I thought I was the only one overthinking or getting anxious during and for commute. It was hard explaining it to other people because it wasn’t all that believable. I use the same method to keep me distracted during commute.
Do you also have a long commute time? It usually takes me an hour to get to work. I never ride a bus on my own without my headphones on. It just makes me crazy and antsy. I once had to get off a bus when I realized that I lost the set that I had in my bag. I had to get myself a new pair.
I don’t have a long commute currently but for the last few years, in order to go back home it took me around 7 hours and my anxiety would start a day or two before travelling.

Thank you for your suggestion. I use distractions too when I’m so into my thoughts. Distractions help when I know I need some distractions though. ^ ^

Thank you. Exercising doesn’t sound like my cup of tea, but it sure helps a lot of people stop thinking for a while. 🙂
