Having babies is hard. Postpartum is hard. I’m sorry I keep the sunshine away. I’m sorry for all the fog. Thank you for sticking with me, though. Thank you for hanging pink hearts from the grey clouds. I can’t promise too much—I can’t see too far ahead right now–but I know that I come at the beginning of the year. That things get brighter, warmer, sweeter soon. Thank you for knowing that, too. Thank you for hanging on.
Postpartum baby blues is SOOOOOO REEEAAAAALLLLL! You wake up sometimes and think, why am I so tired? Oh, yeah, it’s this blasted baby– *sticks out tongue at baby*. I remember reading stories in the paper of mothers who drown their newborns, and then looking down at my son and thinking, “You don’t know how lucky you are!” And now, he’s 12, so it gets better. Hang in there. Blessings to your family. And blessings to your significant other who is in this with you as well!

You don’t realize how important sleep is until there’s a baby who won’t let you. May your infant sleep better each month and have a happy life blessed with caring parents.
