I have many loves. I have an abundance of obsessions that I indulge in on the daily. One of those is Disney. Say what you want about the company, movies etc., to me Disney represents all things magical. It represents happiness, perseverance and love. As a child, after dinner at my grandma’s house, we would watch the news, then The Simpsons (for my older brother) and finally we would put on a Disney movie. I remember Belle with her nose in a book; saw a whole new world with Aladdin; and worried about those poor unfortunate souls with Ariel. In a childhood with few happy family moments, Disney brought me something I desperately needed and my love of it will never waver.
Disney is the soundtrack of my childhood. And my pre-teens. And my teenage years. And my university days. It’s absolutely timeless and perfect. I love watching Disney movies with young children for the first time because it’s so much fun to see their imaginations woken up by these stories.
So so so many Disney song memories from university. I lived with five other girls and our unofficial house song was “I’ll Make a Man Out of You”, and we did have many an impromptu Disney sing-along. Once we stood outside my friend’s window and serenaded her with Disney songs to make her come out and have fun with us — I believe the aforementioned Mulan song and “A Whole New World” were terribly scream-sung by like six of us on her lawn. Two years ago we sang Disney songs friends at their wedding because they set a rule that if you wanted them to kiss you had to sing a song.
My roommate and I were told off by our neighbors for our loud, dramatic renditions of “Won’t say I’m in love” from Hercules. And then I got together a group of us to pay a saxophonist to surprise someone with a jazzy rendition of “Can you feel the love tonight” from Lion King. Her face was priceless.
Mine is The Little Mermaid. It was the first Disney movie I remember watching when I was kid. I watched it over and over again. My friend and I used to act the movie out lol.
I loved the short movies from Mickey mouse. Like the Sorcere & his apprentice.
Ofc beauty & the beast 💕
And a lot of other movies.
Basically disney : 💕

So, I love Moana’s main song so much, and Moana’s grandma is who I aspire to be.

I **may** still dance around my apartment singing that I’ll Make a Man Out of You. It’s just so good!
